However, I do want to remind readers that the GhostBed Flex is a medium feel mattress. While this is a desirable firmness for many side sleepers, others may prefer a plusher feel in a mattress for side sleeping.

Responsiveness refers to how quickly a mattress returns to its original shape after pressure is applied and removed. For combination sleepers and anyone who moves during the night, a slow-recovering surface creates friction during position changes. I test this using standardized weight drops and observe both the speed and quality of recovery.
During my tests, I found the GhostBed Flex to be highly responsive. The Ghost Bounce layer, combined with the individually wrapped coils, reacted quickly to my movements, providing a slight bounce while still contouring to my body.
This responsiveness made it easy to move across the bed and change positions throughout the night. The gel memory foam, however, did sink a bit under my weight. I test this by placing weights on one side and observing how much they move during vigorous activity on the other.
During my testing of the GhostBed Flex, I was thoroughly impressed by its outstanding motion isolation capabilities. I tested the mattress by leaving the weights from the responsiveness test on one side of the mattress and observing their stability while I tossed and turned on the other side.
Remarkably, the weights remained virtually undisturbed, showcasing the mattress’s ability to absorb and dampen movement. I attribute this to its thoughtfully designed combination of individually wrapped coils and multiple layers of memory foam.
The individually wrapped coils work independently, responding to pressure and movement in a localized manner, rather than transferring motion across the entire mattress surface.

During my testing of the GhostBed Flex, I paid close attention to its edge support by sitting on the edge of the mattress and assessing how supported I felt.
The mattress features a Spirited Edge™ support design, which incorporates two rows of reinforced coils along the perimeter. This design aims to provide enhanced stability and minimize compression along the edges.
While sitting on the edge of the GhostBed Flex, I noticed that the mattress provided good support overall. The reinforced coils along the perimeter did a commendable job of maintaining stability and preventing excessive sinking.
However, I did experience a slight feeling of the foams being a tad too giving, which resulted in a bit more compression than I would have preferred.
When lying near the edge of the mattress, I felt reasonably secure and supported. The Spirited Edge™ design helped maintain a consistent sleeping surface, and I didn’t experience any sensations of rolling off the bed. Nevertheless, the slightly softer foams did allow for a bit more sinkage near the edges compared to some other hybrid mattresses I have tested.
On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best possible edge support, I would rate the GhostBed Flex’s edge support as an 8. While the mattress provides good overall edge support thanks to its reinforced coil design, the foams used in the comfort layers were just a tad too giving, leading to a slightly higher level of compression along the perimeter.
It’s important to note that the GhostBed Flex’s edge support is still quite satisfactory and should meet the needs of most sleepers. The mattress provides a stable surface for sitting and sleeping near the edges, and the Spirited Edge™ design does a commendable job of enhancing stability.
However, for those who prioritize exceptionally firm and unyielding edge support, the slightly softer foams may be a point to consider. I would instead recommend one of the mattresses in my 10-out-of-10 edge support club:

When pressure is applied to one area of the mattress, only the pocketed coils directly affected compress, while the surrounding coils remain unchanged. In contrast, the open spring coils of a traditional mattress are interconnected, meaning that when pressure is applied to one area, the surrounding coils are also affected.
