About Sleep Junkie: Independent Mattress Testing Since 2012

Sleep Junkie has published independent sleep research and hands-on mattress testing since 2012. Our team evaluates mattresses and bedding across pressure relief, support, cooling, motion isolation, edge support, responsiveness, construction, and durability, so you get findings you can trust instead of marketing claims.

Who We Are

Welcome to Sleep Junkie, your destination for research backed sleep guidance. Founded in 2012, we are a team of hands-on testers, writers, and credentialed reviewers focused on one question: which mattress is right for the way you actually sleep.

Our lead tester, Kristina Hindes, a Certified Sleep Science Coach, evaluates every mattress we recommend using the same standardized framework. Consumer testers add real world feedback across a range of body types and sleeping positions, and our expert review board vets health related content for accuracy. To date, we have tested and evaluated 50+ mattresses using this consistent process.

Our mission is to give you clear, evidence based information about sleep products so you can make an informed decision with confidence. We explain how we test, what we look for, and why one mattress may suit you better than another, then we update our findings as products change and new models arrive.

Note: We may receive compensation for products purchased through links or codes on this site. sleepjunkie.com is owned by Healthy Sleep, LLC and includes Amerisleep, LLC advertising.

How We Test At Sleep Junkie

Every mattress and bedding product we recommend is evaluated by our in house testing team using a standardized process. We assess eight performance categories: pressure relief, support and spinal alignment, motion isolation, edge support, cooling and temperature regulation, responsiveness and ease of movement, construction and materials, and durability and long term value.

Our process combines hands-on product evaluation, product specification review, owner feedback review where available, and expert review where applicable. Health related claims are routed to credentialed reviewers on our expert board when a topic calls for added clinical or scientific oversight, and pages with completed expert review show the reviewer on the page.

For foam products we also assess density and ILD firmness ratings. For hybrid and innerspring mattresses we check coil type, coil gauge, and layer construction. To date we have tested and evaluated 50+ mattresses using this same framework.

You can read the full process on our How We Test Mattresses page.

Our Core Values

Integrity

We publish honest, independent findings and stay transparent about how we test and how we are compensated.

Accuracy

We ground our content in hands-on testing, construction analysis, and expert review, then run it through a rigorous editorial process before it goes live.

Inclusivity

We test with a range of body types and sleeping positions so our recommendations speak to different sleepers, not a single ideal profile.

Continuous Improvement

We revisit our reviews and our methodology as sleep research advances and as products are updated, so the guidance here stays current.

Reader First

We build every guide around the decision you are trying to make, with practical information you can act on.

Our Editorial Process

Our editorial process goes beyond proofreading. Testing is led by Kristina Hindes, our Certified Sleep Science Coach, who evaluates each mattress for pressure relief, support, motion isolation, edge support, cooling, responsiveness, construction, and durability using our standardized framework. We add feedback from a diverse group of consumer testers across side, back, stomach, and combination sleeping positions and a range of body types.

Health related content is reviewed by our expert board for accuracy and claim safety. We also read verified owner reviews to present a balanced view of each product, and we compare every mattress against competing models to identify its strengths, its limitations, and the sleeper it suits best.

We are committed to staying current. We re-test products and update reviews when a design changes or a new model is released, so our recommendations reflect the latest testing and sleep science.
