Best Labor Day Mattress Sales of 2024
Amerisleep’s AS3 is their most popular mattress model and is designed to be compatible with the majority of sleepers. The AS3 has a medium feel and can adapt comfortably to most body types— making it great for couples with different sleep styles or sleepers who aren’t sure whether they need a firm or soft bed.
As a medium, the AS3 is designed to offer an even balance of comfort and support, so it shouldn’t be too soft or too firm.
The AS3 has a lightweight cover and 3 inches of Bio-Pur®. Below the layer of Bio-Pur® is 2 inches of HIVE® technology to promote healthy sleeping positions and reduce pain points. The base of the AS3 is 7 inches of Bio-Core® for additional support.
AMERISLEEP AS3
- Bio-Pur® more breathable and responsive than traditional memory foam
- Separate support zones for head, shoulders, back, hips, feet
- Bio-Core® structures the mattress for durable longevity
Like the Zoma Mattress, the Zoma Hybrid is an excellent choice for those who lead an active lifestyle. The responsive foam layers contour to your body’s curves, relieving pressure points, while the individually-wrapped innerspring coils provide targeted support.
Each layer of the Zoma Hybrid has an innovative design to keep you cool and comfortable. This mattress also incorporates key features to improve muscle recovery and sleep quality. Instead of waking up stiff and sore the following morning after a hard workout, you’ll wake up rejuvenated and ready for the day after a night spent on the Zoma.
The gel memory foam comfort layer conforms to your body for pressure point relief without overheating. Gel absorbs and disperses body heat, so you can sleep cooler without waking up feeling hot. Those prone to night sweats in particular will love this layer.
To boost comfort, this top layer also contains triangle-shaped segments arranged in three zones of support. Areas under the back and hips feel firmer, while areas under the head, shoulders, and legs feel softer for even pressure relief.
Reactiv™, the transition layer below the comfort layer, is an elastic foam to prevents you from sinking too deeply. Plus, it encourages spinal alignment. You can easily change positions without feeling stuck due to the responsiveness Reactiv™ provides. Reactiv™ also offers a deeper cushion in your shoulders and hips for even better comfort.
In place of Support+, the Zoma Hybrid Mattress contains hundreds of pocket coils. The pocketed coils give you targeted pressure relief and consistent support—you won’t experience premature sagging which could lead to back pain. The pocketed coils also give the mattress better edge support, so you don’t roll off the bed.
Zoma offers customers a 100-night sleep trial with the purchase of the Zoma Hybrid. If you decide it’s not right for your sleep needs, you have the option to return the mattress for a full refund. The Zoma Hybrid also comes with a 10-year warranty, protecting against sagging greater than an inch and manufacturing defects.
ZOMA HYBRID
- Consistently cool, pressure-relieving gel memory foam
- Responsive transition foam limits uncomfortable sinkage
- Support core of pocketed coils and foam base
The Vaya Mattress delivers pure comfort for side and combination sleepers. Its perfect medium firmness keeps you lifted and allows you to enjoy contouring pressure relief in the shoulders and hips. The cushioning foam surface also reduces pressure points, so you can wake up feeling rested.
The Vaya Mattress contains two responsive foam layers designed to distribute body weight across the sleep surface for long-lasting comfort. Other mattress companies would charge at least $800 for a queen size hypoallergenic foam mattress, but with the Vaya Mattress, you can relish its high-quality materials for $699.
The Vaya Mattress contains 3 inches of Vaya Comfort Foam. The thick comfort layer molds to your body without causing you to feel stuck inside the bed. You may find it easier to switch sleeping positions, especially if you’re seeking a mattress for a combination sleeper.
The 9-inch-thick Vaya Support Foam reinforces the bed’s structure and enhances the conforming properties of Vaya Comfort Foam. You’ll love the stable support night after night from the Vaya Support Foam.
Vaya gives you up to 100 nights to try out the Vaya Mattress. If, for whatever reason, you don’t like the bed after a couple of months, Vaya will issue a full refund. Plus, Vaya also covers any manufacturing defects and sagging greater than an inch as reflected in their 10-year warranty.
VAYA MATTRESS
- Plush Vaya Comfort Foam comfortable for all styles
- Supportive base foam resists sagging
- Airy, soft cover fabric wrapped around foam layers
Helix offers a range of mattresses to suit different sleep positions and firmness preferences, and one of their most popular options is the Helix Midnight Luxe. Designed for side and combination sleepers, the Midnight Luxe is also excellent for anyone who wants to comfortably share a bed with a partner.
The surface of the Helix Midnight Luxe can be customized to a shopper’s preferences. The default mattress cover is TENCEL™ fabric, a natural material that keeps heat and moisture moving away from the body. For an extra bit of refreshing chill, though, shoppers can upgrade to the GlacioTex Cooling Cover.
Underneath the cover fabric is cooling foam, a material that stays cool and helps the bed stay fresh. This first memory foam layer is supplanted by another layer of foam, ensuring plenty of pressure-relieving and motion-isolating cushion. A layer of high-grade polyfoam serves as the transition.
The core of the Helix Midnight Luxe is hundreds of wrapped springs, zoned for special support under the shoulders and hips. These coils increase contouring under the shoulders for more cushion and support under the hips to minimize sinkage. A base of DuraDense foam ensures the pocketed coils’ stability.
The Helix Midnight Luxe comes with a 100-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty. Along with 25 percent off, get two free Dream Pillows with a mattress purchase this Labor Day.
HELIX MIDNIGHT LUXE
- Choice of cooling cover for undisturbed rest
- Memory foam eases pressure on sleepers' bodies
- Coils target the shoulders and hips for pain relief
Nolah is a top mattress brand with plenty of offerings, from cooling bamboo bedding to top-quality mattresses and advanced adjustable beds. While any of their mattresses could be the right bed for your needs, our personal favorite is the Nolah Evolution 15 for its luxurious yet affordable design.
As a thicker mattress, the Nolah Evolution 15 contains a wealth of materials designed to increase its comfort and support. The mattress cover is organic cotton fabric, a natural material that wicks away heat and moisture. The cotton is stretched over a 2-inch top of cooling foam to create the bed’s quilted Eurotopper, surrounded by an AirBreath™ border gusset to help heat escape faster.
Underneath this pillow top mattress, is a perforated AirFoam layer, an upgraded version of the comfort foam used in Nolah’s other memory foam mattresses.
The next two layers are supportive resilience foam and responsive transition foam, while the core of this hybrid mattress is Tri-Zone™ Coils. These coils are arranged for added support underneath the torso, and the perimeter coils are reinforced for edge support.
These coils rest on an extra-strong base fabric with carrying handles. The base has a non-skid surface, ensuring the Evolution 15 stays in place.
The Nolah Evolution ships free and is backed by a 120-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty. If you want to save even more during Labor Day, you can remove the sleep trial for an extra discount.
NOLAH EVOLUTION 15
- Multiple cooling materials mimic the feel of a pillow top
- Supportive, buoyant foams let sleepers stretch out comfortably
- Responsive pocketed coils offer targeted support for the back
Innerspring mattresses remain a popular mainstay in today’s market, even though other types of mattresses have started to crowd them out. One reason they’ve lost some popularity is how many traditional innerspring mattresses can’t match the comfort of a newer mattress model. The Saatva Classic, however, puts a twist on the old innerspring mattress formula with some new features.
The Saatva Classic has a 3-inch Euro pillow top covered with organic cotton cover. Organic cotton is highly durable and pulls heat and sweat away from the sleeper for undisturbed rest. This cotton fabric is also treated with an antimicrobial botantical compound, keeping bacteria and mold from settling inside the bed.
Underneath the pillowtop is a dense layer of memory foam, certified by CertiPUR-US®. This layer also contains Lumbar Zone® Active Wire to keep pressure from building up in the back area, maintaining a healthy spine alignment.
The middle layer is a layer of pocketed coils, made with recycled steel and individually wrapped. These coils are arranged to create a more supportive feel underneath the torso, the better to take on a sleeper’s weight.
The base of the Saatva Classic is hundreds of tempered steel coils, engineered to provide breathable and durable support. High-density foam rings these coils and provides stable edge support.
The Saatva Classic ships free and comes with a 365-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty.
SAATVA CLASSIC
- Pillowtop with cool cotton and botantical protection
- Targeted back support to eliminate morning stiffness and aches
- Pocketed coils increase the surface's motion isolation

Best Labor Day Mattress Sales on a Budget
Information on the best sales can come from a variety of sources. Think advertisements, press releases, news sources, retailer websites, and social media or blogs covering sleep essentials and sleeping tips. We worked to verify all the details as best we could. However, they could be subject to change.
No matter your preferred bed type, brand, or price range, it’s always smart to do your research. A new bed is a big purchase. So you want to review the details carefully before making a big commitment. During these types of events, you may find beds that look like a good deal on the outside. But their low quality and poor guarantees might soon leave you tossing and turning.
So exactly what should you be looking for in a mattress purchase? Before plunking down your credit card, always check the following:
- Specifications of the bed.
- Prices of similar beds from other retailers.
- The retailer’s return policies, along with any exclusions or fees.
- The bed’s warranty terms, as well as what the warranty covers. (And for how long.)
- Consumer reviews. These aren’t a must, but they can be another source of helpful, unbiased information. Definitely check them out if you have time.
How to Find the Best Labor Day Mattress Sale
Want to shop as savvy as possible? Here are some more pro tips for parsing through Labor Day Mattress Deals:
- Start early
- Decide a budget
- Research
- Walk away if you feel pressured
- Avoid impulse buying the first product you see
- Consider the benefits of online shopping
Keep them in mind, and you’ll be guaranteed to save big.
Start your search early.
No one wants to feel rushed while they shop. Especially when it comes to big purchases like a new bed. The lesson? Give yourself time to track down the promos and evaluate them. Getting started a week or two ahead of time should do the trick and let you choose a top-shelf promo purchase.
Decide on your budget and stick to it.
A great bed is certainly an investment in your health and well-being. (And a long-term one at that!) But you don’t want to spend more than you bargained for.
If you find a mattress beyond your budget, many retailers offer financing options. Just be smart when considering select mattresses in the higher-end of the market. Should you opt to finance your bed, be mindful of the payments and interest amounts.
Be a thorough investigator.
Not all offers are as great as they seem up front. Some may come with hidden costs or troublesome fine print. Sometimes a gift like a free mattress protector or free sheets may be used to distract you from a lackluster mattress.
Take a look at the deals you’re considering. If you’re unsure about the terms, ask. This goes for Internet-based brands too. Many retailers have online chat support or phone numbers for shoppers. Take advantage of these resources.
If you feel pressured, walk away.
Sales people thrive on high-pressure situations. That’s why showroom negotiations can sometimes get tense. If you feel like you’re losing control in the conversation, just walk away and clear your head. You don’t have to buy into whatever the sales person is telling you.
Don’t buy the first thing you see.
It’s smarter to scope out a few options, even if that means taking a little extra time. Remember that most of these offers will run for several days. So give yourself some time to comparison shop.
Just don’t wait too long. Otherwise you could end up missing out on the markdown.
Consider shopping online.
More and more shoppers are looking for their beds on the Internet. This might seem unusual if you’re used to walking through a showroom and trying models in person. But an online mattress in a box can actually be a better choice. Online retailers tend to offer the lowest possible prices.
Plus, you can shop on your own time without feeling pressured by pushy salespeople. Best of all? Most online retailers have generous try-at-home policies. These mail order mattresses are shipped right to your door, giving you months to test them out at home.

Frequently Asked Questions
What time of year are the best mattress sales?
Some of the best times to buy a mattress during the year is during 3-day weekends and between February and June. Before the long weekend, mattress companies advertise their best sales and bundle deals a few weeks in advance.
These mattress sales usually include free gifts, like sheets or pillows on top of a discounted price tag. During the months of February and June, mattress companies give deep discounts on certain mattress models. This is a way for companies to get rid of old mattress models to make way for new ones.
How long does a mattress last?
Most high-quality mattresses last between 6 to 9 years, depending on the materials. For example, some mattresses that contain natural materials, like latex beds, may last over ten years because natural latex is a highly durable material. Other mattresses, like innersprings, may not last as long. Innerspring coils are not as sturdy as other materials and could end up sagging or breaking after a few years of regular use.
What’s the difference between an innerspring and a pillow top mattress?
Both innerspring and pillow top mattresses are very similar. Innersprings mostly contain steel coils and may have a very thin comfort layer. Pillow top mattresses also contain innerspring coils but have a thicker comfort layer of foam or fiberfill. This comfort layer isn’t as thick as other mattress types, like memory foam, latex, or hybrids, about less than 2 inches thick.
Can I lay my mattress directly on the floor?
While some mattress types, including memory foam and latex, do best on a solid, even surface, we don’t recommend laying your mattress on the floor. The floor is full of allergens and bacteria—placing your mattress directly on the floor makes it easier for these pests to penetrate the bed.
This could lead to disrupted sleep from allergic reactions. Instead, elevate your mattress on a platform bed. The bed frame’s surface will have a solid or slatted surface, perfect for supporting your bed.
What’s a good mattress for stomach sleepers?
A great mattress for stomach sleepers will have a medium-firm to firm feel. The firmer surface keeps the body resting on top of the mattress instead of sinking too deep. Sleeping on the stomach places intense pressure on the spine. A softer surface can worsen pressure and lead to back pain.
Did You Find Your Next Bed?

And you’ve racked up tips for how to shop smart and score a great price on mattresses and sleep accessories like bedding, bed frames, and mattress toppers. Mattresses are impossible to find on the website without a model number.
We located details by searching the names on retailer websites or via store ads in most cases, but will keep this in mind for future holiday deal posts. Thanks for reading!
I see old 2014 comments and q&a; is this an active 2016 Labor Day Mattress Sale site? Thank you!
Could you give us some details on the Serta Serenity bay firm vs. the Sealy Posturpedic Larkin Lane comfort firm both at Macys? Specifically, what caused you rate the Serta above the Sealy? Thanks!
Sorry for the late reply, missed your comment! The Serta has a fiber and gel memory foam top, 886 independent coils and a 20 year warranty. The Sealy model has more loft in fiber and foam/gel MF layers but with only 600 independent coils and a 10 year warranty. The Serta model also had higher reviews and was $100 cheaper during the sales.. Obviously this was late but hopefully the reasoning helps!
