Amerisleep’s Materials, Cover, and Construction

All Amerisleep mattresses are covered in a soft, breathable cover designed to increase airflow through the mattress. The cover is also completely washable, which helps preserve the life of the mattress.

The AS1, Amerisleep’s base model, consists of two foam layers. On top are two inches of Bio-Pur®, an advanced open-cell foam. All open-cell foams improve airflow, but advanced open-cell foams take that to the next level for premium air circulation. Underneath the Bio-Pur® layer are eight inches of a denser Bio-Core® support foam.

The AS2 is topped with the same two inches of Bio-Pur® as the AS1. It has the same layers as the AS2, but the top Bio-Pur® layer is thicker and the Affinity transition layer is thinner, making it softer. Warranties vary from company to company. The warranties for foam mattresses usually include an indentation depth at which the mattress can be replaced. Watch out for complicated warranties and return policies. Complicated warranties may require photo or video proof of defects while others may prorate the warranty every two years for the life of the mattress. This warranty has an excellent indentation policy that covers indentations over ¾ of an inch deep. There are limits to coverage that are expressly stated in the warranty. The Loom & Leaf is made by Saatva. They are available online and at Macy’s department stores. These mattresses come with free white glove delivery rather than the mattress-in-a-box style of some online retailers. That means the mattress is hand-delivered and set up in your room of choice. They also include the removal of your old mattress. The mattress materials are sourced in the United States, and Saatva is committed to eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

Customer service is Saatva’s pride and joy, and they call each customer after the initial purchase to make sure you’re fully satisfied with the delivery and setup of the mattress. Saatva has a wide range of sleep products like pillows, adjustable bases, and latex and innerspring mattresses. The Loom & Leaf comes in two firmness options.

• Loom & Leaf: Both the relaxed firm and the firm are constructed using the same layers. A quilted cover sewn onto a thin layer of foam covers a thicker gel-foam that’s designed to support the spine. The comfort layers are supported by two more layers of dense poly-foam.

The Loom & Leaf doesn’t do quite as well in regards to breathability and temperature regulation. The cooling gel memory foam helps. However, that same memory foam layer conforms to the body and tends to trap heat. As such, this mattress is probably best for those who sleep cool.

The ability to conform and contour to the body is one of the Loom & Leaf mattress’s greatest strengths. The mix of memory foams cushion and relieve pressure on the shoulders and hips. The Loom & Leaf mattress offers amazing sleep for side sleepers, especially those who suffer from chronic pain. That same conforming ability appealing to side sleepers is comfortable for many back sleepers, as well. The spinal support foam layer successfully supports the lower back.

However, all that conforming doesn’t work as well for stomach sleepers. Sinkage under the pelvis bows the back, causing sleep interruptions and pain. The Loom & Leaf also has problems with edge support, which can be more of an issue for heavyweight sleepers.

How Durable are Loom & Leaf Mattresses?

Though the Loom & Leaf has CertiPUR-US® certified foams, their durability remains average. The foams wear out at a fairly typical rate, which means the mattress will need to be replaced after seven to eight years. The company offers a 15-year warranty that’s prorated starting after two years.

Loom & Leaf’s Trial Period, Warranty, and Return Policies

Loom & Leaf’s 120-day trial period is one of the longest you’ll find. If you’re not satisfied within that time period, you can return the mattress at a $99 transportation cost.

Loom & Leaf has a multi-tiered 15-year warranty. For two years, the warranty covers the full cost of a new mattress. For the final 13 years, the company offers to recover or repair the mattress at the cost of $99 for shipping each way. In years three through five, you can opt for a new mattress rather than repair it for 25 percent of the original price. In years six through ten, you can opt for a new mattress over getting it repaired for 50 percent of the original price. During years 11 to 15, you can buy a new mattress for 75 percent of the original price.

If you choose a new mattress over repairs, you get to keep the old one. Like Amerisleep, the warranty is only in effect as long as the mattress has appropriate support as defined in the warranty. The warranty includes coverage for indentations over three-quarters of an inch.

Customers must notify Saatva in writing for any claims. The warranty only applies to the original purchaser with proof of purchase.

The Loom & Leaf mattress contains foams that are CertiPUR-US® certified. That means they’ve been tested for harmful emissions, the content of harmful materials like lead and formaldehyde, and eco-friendly manufacturing practices.

Who Are Loom & Leaf Mattresses For?

The Loom & Leaf’s incredibly comfortable organic cotton cover and two top layers of conforming memory foam make it ideal for side sleepers. The foam layers all but remove pressure from the shoulders and hips for pain-free sleep. However, all that conformability doesn’t work as well for stomach sleepers who need more support. Some back sleepers will love the feel of the lumbar support while others might not need it.

The gel-infused memory foam helps disperse heat, but hot sleepers may still get too warm with this model.
