Sleep Research
Read Time: 2 minutes

Are you tired of being tired? Are you spending night after night struggling to get to sleep no matter how hard you try? We have a job opportunity that could be perfect for you.

We are looking to hire someone to test and review the latest sleeping aids and devices to showcase how beneficial each aid can be. Our aim is to curate the ultimate sleep guide for troubled sleepers worldwide.

We will be paying the chosen candidate $2,000 to review the products over an eight week period. You have to be a self-confessed insomniac, so if you’re a pro sleeper, please sit this one out.

The right candidate must be available to start after February 28th and can work/sleep from home. They must be 21 or over, be based in the US, have excellent writing skills and are required to own a smartphone that is compatible with sleep tracking apps.

To fulfil the role, the ‘fussy sleeper’ will test and review eight different sleeping aids and devices over the course of two months, reviewing each product based on a week-long trial. The products will include apps, pillows, eye masks, and bedding. Each review will take roughly one hour and will be completed using an online form that answers sleep quality questions provided by our team of sleep experts. The selected candidate will get paid $2,000 in total, equivalent to $250 an hour and will be permitted to keep all of the sleep aids.

Please see the application below. Applications are closed, and we’ve selected our winner as Skyla Z.!

As you know, here at Sleep Junkie, we produce in-depth guides for finding the perfect mattress for a perfect night’s sleep, with a team devoted to helping others get the rest they need to lead their happiest, healthiest lives.

Our in-house sleep expert, Dorothy Chambers, has shared eight general bad habits to avoid before bed in order to achieve a good night’s rest:

  1. Using electronics before bed
  2. Vigorous exercise at night time
  3. Eating in excess before bed
  4. Late caffeine consumption
  5. Inconsistent sleep hours or a broken sleep schedule
  6. Uncomfortable bedroom conditions
  7. Laying in bed for too long
  8. Overstressing

When speaking about recruitment for the role, Dorothy Chambers said, “The science of sleep is fascinating and we are constantly researching the latest trends and technology to share with our readers. As a team, we are all dedicated to providing the best sleep advice we can.”

“We believe that everyone is entitled to and can achieve a restful night’s sleep. Our hope is that by recruiting someone with poor sleep history, we can help them find peace at night, whilst they help us gather useful information we can share with others.”

Dorothy Chambers is our in-house sleep expert and a firm believer in the benefits of a daytime nap. With a background in psychology, Dorothy is fully aware of the impact sleep has on our brain, mood, and overall well-being. In an effort to help readers lead happier, more productive, and healthier lives, Dorothy spends her time researching the best sleep habits to help you fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up feeling rested.

Dorothy Chambers spent years studying clinical psychology before joining us to promote a deeper understanding of sleep, along with some cursory research into biology and physiology. She’s particularly interested in the effects that different sleep positions have on the body. Later on in her career, she plans on pursuing a doctorate degree in behavioral sleep medicine.

Dorothy wakes up at 7 a.m. every day after a full night’s rest to better tackle a full day of work. After a session of morning exercise, she catches up on the latest sleep news and research before writing. She’s a fan of watching academic lectures, listening to scientific podcasts, and testing new sleep theories firsthand. Dorothy Chambers has written dozens of articles in her tenure with Sleep Junkie.

Her work has been featured on Home & Gardens, House Beautiful, Real Simple, Apartment Therapy, CNBC, Bustle, Yahoo! Finance, Fox 17, and even AARP.org.
