I just complete six sessions with the Zerona laser and the only inches I lost were from my wallet. This $3,000 scam needs to be exposed and the public warned. Whether the treatment doesn’t work for 5% of the people or 45% of the people who undergo this rip-off scam of a procedure has yet to be determined.
Like a lot of other people I saw an advertisement in my local paper then searched the web to learn more about this weight loss, body contouring laser treatment. I now realize shows like The Doctors, Rachael Ray and even local news programs are not so much information programs as much as an entertainment venue and that they were just acting like giddy school girls and company shrews for the Zerona laser without ever looking into whether this works for everyone like they promoted for fat loss and weight loss.
After my first three sessions I was getting depressed and disappointed because I didn’t see any results and my clothes were all fitting just the same. I told this to the person who was performing the treatments and she blamed me and asked what I was doing wrong. It seems to me the only thing she really knew about the laser treatments was what the Zerona salesperson told her.
I felt like there was something wrong with me as it seems like everyone else was getting remarkable results. I went to the My Zerona web site and filled out their contact us form and asked whether they knew of any cases where their laser treatment didn’t work. Guess what. I never heard from them.
People in this body contouring field can get a Zerona laser at no cost. I’m not privy to the contract deals, but it seems to me that if they are going to give away a machine that costs several hundred thousand dollars they are probably getting a good percentage of the fee that’s being charged.
A major red flag is that there isn’t any test you can undergo before hand to determine whether the Zerona laser will work or not on you other than if your credit card goes through. And if the Zerona laser doesn’t work, you also won’t get a dime back.
I’ve lost sleep because I feel I was taken by this Zerona laser rip-off scam and a fool for the wishful thinking that there was finally a non invasive procedure for fat loss and weight loss.
Did the Zerona laser not work for you? Leave your comment below. I feel that for every person that got nothing for their money I hope this post should put a dint in the Zerona bottom line by stopping a thousand others from being taken by this Zerona laser scam.
I’m off to scarf down a large pizza and a six pack.

I soooooooooooo frustrare ,i spend my time and $$$ with Zerona , and definity this NOT WORK for ,and i dont belive work for no body ,be carefull for me this is a nother SCAM !!!
I am very disappointed and feel so stupid for getting involve in thoses treatments that cost $ $ $ and time consuming! I had 12 treatment (3000$) and 1/2 inches lost in total, so they give me 6 more extra, hoping at the end of the those 6 treatment maybe the 3 inches garanti will appear!!!
I think with that money we better hire a personnal trainer and a dietrician, I am sure the result could be much better!
G
Sorry to here you only lost your money. Too many people are falling for this. For $3K anyone could have ordered food in for six months or more. Let others know that Zeron is to be avoided.
I agree! I spent my hard earned money & on 6 treatments that were a complete FAIL! I'm so disappointed that I wasted money & I know I won't get it back since Zerona company doesn't refund. I wonder if there's anyone putting together a class action suit. DON"T DO IT no matter how desperate you are to lose weight. ! In fact, my doctor altered my measurements to make it look like I lost inches. I measured myself & before & after & mine & her measurements were different! I learned that if it sounds too good to be true, then it isn't true. ZERONA IS A PURE SCAM
Let eveyone know about your experience.
Thanks.
The Zerona Laser worked for me, you can't expect the treatments to work if you don't follow the directions of the doctor. Why would the FDA approval something that does not work and is a scam !!! I lost 6 1/2 inches and am thrilled with the results. Not all types of treatments worked for me in the past ,I never blamed the procedures it's logical that some people do not respond to some fat loss treatments and others do.
The procedure can work for some people, but even after taking the supplements, drinking the water and walking the treatments do not work for a lot of people and there is no way to tell before hand whether it will or will not work for you. If it does, you’re happy, but if it doesn’t you are out a lot of money.
If the company was really behind their product they would 1) respond to consumer complaints and 2) provide a full refund when it doesn’t work. The fact that they won’t do either indicates they are more interested in making money as fast as they can before people wise up and stop spending money on a procedure that seems to be a gamble for the consumer.
Why do you assume that the individuals didn’t follow the instructions of the doctors or nurses? Obviously this treatment doesn’t work for everyone and it is the responsibility of the makers of Zerona to figure out what type of individuals this doesn’t work for so that they don’t waste their hard earned cash. I am 5 feet 6 inch and weigh 118 lbs and would like to lose my belly and love handle baby fat. I want to lose inches not weight so I had 6 treatments of Zerona done. I drank more then recommended of water, I eat extra healthy (I eat healthy regularly anyways), I took the Zerona pills (Curva), I received 2 vitamin B shots (one before my treatment and one after my 3rd treatment, and I alternated with speed walking 3 mile one day and running 3 miles the next. I am an active girl. However my measurements were the same from the beginning & the end.
I don’t assume anyone didn’t follow the instructions given. Zerona just doesn’t work for some people (most?) and there is no way to tell before hand.
Thanks for your story.
Sunny was replying to Kathy, not you.
at a 118 lbs what is there to loose?
The FDA approves procedures, medicines, and equipment all the time that has to be recalled. Don’t think FDA approval is a sure bet because that is far from true. Besides, if you have enough money you can get anything approved!
So true.
still even if it did work for you what they are saying is that it does not work for others. And what these companies are saying is that it works for everyone. And that is false advertisement and they should be allowed to be sued for that. And they never said they did not follow any doctors direction. If you read it one said they did everything that was told and it still did not work. Another said that they were even falsly told that they had been loosing weight when they weren’t. What worked for you if it did in fact work for you and you are not one who is just sponsering zerona there is a but not for everyone senerio. Now I would say to those who do try it. If in the first 2 attempts stop and have a meeting with your doctors. Bring attention to the attention of the board of plastic surgery and the FDA. FDA can then reflect and have them reexam what they are telling people and who qualifies for this procedures and who does not. Maybe there is a defect in the machine and you can get a redue. Also maybe your body is not passing with enough water another thing is perhaps the laser lipo was a better fit for your body with skin tightening. But ultimatly the personal trainer excercise and healthy life style is much cheaper. Decrease your fat intake, pasta that turns into sugar, put down the pizza and beer, soda whatever it is. Will power is the best weight loss there is. Deal with you and become a big fat looser…. Legally there is a contract you may have sighned people don’t know that you are allowed to write stipulations on the contract before signing wherever you find space. You want to be reemberust half of your money or all if it does not work. Ask them to give you a copy and then you can use it in court. You still can file a lawsuit even without a lawyer self lawsuit and just have a judge here the case. You can do this for free depending on your income or $200. Within civil court or small claims. If anything it will bring awareness and let the medical profession know that what happened should not have happened. Also note you have a statue of limitation. In the future talk to other patience. I am glad you did post this, because I do believe in learning from other peoples experience. I hope this helps.
I’ll try to hit on a few of your points.
The only weight I lost with Zeron was weight from my wallet.
Many Zerona scams are run out of spas. There is no doctor anywhere in sight.
There is a previous comment from a plastic surgeon that outlined how pointless Zerona really is. Might as well shine a flashlight on your belly.
The FDA is filled with big pharma whores – but that’s another story (people working at pharmaceutical companies got a job at the FDA and vice versa).
Anything can get FDA approval if it doesn’t kill you. Then again prescription drugs maim and kill thousands of people every year, so don’t count on the FDA to do anything to help you.
Most contacts (Zerona or not) are written in the same basic format:
We’re right.
You’re wrong.
Sign here.
And you’re not allowed to make any changes.
Thanks for your comments. They were great.

When something sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
I was offered a "low level laser" to try in my practice by the sales person as proof that it works. I then did a split body (just treated half the body) trial on friends and family for 6 weeks and guess what? It didn't work. At Pier Laser Med Spa in Santa Monica, we only employ EVIDENCE BASED treatments. No "Detox Foot Baths" or expensive cellulite treatments.
The first clue that it's a scam would be "extremely effective claims" but without a money-back guarentee. If it is RARE that a treatment doesn't work, a reputable med spa would return your money, as it occurs rarely.
I disagree 100%. Almost no one ever gets any money back. The lasers are leased by the spas and no doubt counts the number of treatments and spa owners are required to pay the laser company.
There are many reputable spas promoting this garbage because the laser salesperson waved dollars figures in their eyes and they signed a contract. I would never go to any spa for ANY treatment if they are offing this Zeron laser scam.
I end-up paying $400.to a Orlando down-town Dr Serrao for this scam in the begining they told me consultation is free, and its the best option for me to loose my bally fat, after taking one session, I foloow there instructions, I was almost sick for two days. When I told Dr Serrao about my body condition, He said we can not do any thing, They took about $ 400. from my money and advised me that they will send me a check through mail soon. PPL should be aware of this scam. Before they get stuck paying money for nothing.
I hope you do get your money back. If not, consider yourself lucky it was only $400 as most people get taken for $3,000 or more.
Bob I must say I have to ask why did you keep going. I know it is a sensative reality. But here nor there trying looking at the video sick and nearly dead. This guy lost the weight the good old fashion healthy way.
I got burned on a ten session Zerona scam. The money was already gone and the people running the operation kept saying I had to do the entire “treatments” to see results. None to be had.
Anyone can save the time and bother and just tear up a wad of hundreds and throw them into the street.
I wonder if the feeling sick came from the claim that it also releases toxins. I once took a package of supplements from GNC that I was supposed to take for about two weeks – I think – it was to cleanse my systems and I was extremely ill from them. They said that it would go away but I didn’t have the time to feel sick to my stomach like I had motion sickness all day.
People often don’t feel well when doing a cleanse making you long for your toxins. The worst is the first few days, then things settle down.
Unless you have a lawyer who is a relative and will work for free, it will cost a lot more to ever get to court. Just let people know to stay clear.
Small claims court is about 35.00. Everyone should use it if they think they have been scamed.
ZERONA IS A SCAM I DID NOT LOOSE ANY INCHES WHAT SO EVER, AND ALL I DID WAS WASTE MY TIME AND MONEY! THEY WERE OFFERING ME MORE SESSIONS BUT I DISREGARDED IT AND DEMAND MY MONEY BACK!
I hope you got your money back as most people don’t get anything.
I spent a good bit of money on 9 laser sessions, including the *add on – work out sessions, dry sauna sessions, foot detox sessions, minerals and herbs and more. I gained weight! Their measurements were “generous” on the tail end to show a total overall body inch loss of 3.3 inches…big whoop….
I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau here in Houston, because when you put something on your website that says, and I quote – “Patients treated with ZERONA can expect to lose 2-7 pant/dress sizes and from 2 to 20 inches from their hips, waist, arms, legs, buttocks and abdominal area.” – and your claim does not deliver – in Texas, that is called Deceptive Trade.
I intend to get a full refund, if I have to file a small claims court petition under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act. Hopefully, the BBB will talk some sense into them.
They set my expectation in the advertising, and they failed to meet it. Period. I deserve a refund.
The best of luck to you. Zerona has to be made accountable when their procedure doesn’t work. The spas also like to measure you in 20 different places so if you lost 1/4″ on each of them, you would have lost 5″. Who would notice 1/4″ off their waist or ony other one place on their body? I too went through the “extras” that the spa used to pad the bill.
Let me know how it goes.
What place in Houston was advertised that way!?
I work for a physicians office and we guarantee patient’s will lose 3.5 inches in 6 sessions from waist, hips, and thighs! I thought Zerona was giving us misleading claims. This is OUT OF CONTROL!
Good for you! I hope you get it back!!!
Small claims court! Very inexpensive. If enough people take them to small claims court this scam will stop.
Man, I am furious! This is the worst I have ever been ripped off in my life! 9 treatments, $3000 later and no perceivable inches lost! No one sees a difference in me! Their whole method of measuring you is a complete con. By measuring in several different places, and pulling the tape tighter on the final measurement/session and then adding up all the figures they make it look as if I lost 5 inches and yet my weight is the same and the circumference around my waist is also the same as before I started treatment! Nuts! Surely there has to be a class action lawsuit against this company? I went to premier Fitness in Milton, Onatrio in Canada for my treatment and just had my last session last week. They were indignant and rude to me when I informed them that I don’t believe that their treatment worked. What should I do? I cannot afford a lawyer
I’m in the same boat as you. The only thing you can do is tell as many people as possible and warn them to stay away from this so called treatment.
If you are so confident Zerona did not work for many(most of) clients. Why dont you investigate the “FDA”. You can mail the complain to FDA and make public site to collect the large numbers of failure cases. The lawers are waiting to help you since they are always looking for huge case to make profit. If you win, you can get big compensation…
I think someone should give it a try. I don’t live in the USA.
Pharmaceutical Companies control the FDA.
The FDA approved Zerona because it promotes a healthier and improved lifestyle. They would never approve something cosmetic/plastic surgery equivalent/something that works.
Look at GMO’s in the American Food Supply…I think we knew that the FDA was bought out a long time ago.
If Zerona works as well as claimed, these clinics should not have a problem refunding the small percentage(5%) of patients who see no results(?). My girlfriend is seriously considering Zerona, and she isn’t the type who sits down to do any research before spending money. I think I’ve read enough negative testimonials to at least make me cautious, if not avoid it altogether. I’d rather spend $3K on a vacation.
Smart move. I also believe the percentage of people who don’t get very good results is a lot higher than 5%.
Here’s what you do to get your $$$ back if you put it on a credit card. Just call up your bank and tell them you were not satisfied with the proceedure and give your reasons…bad service what ever. Credit cards will always side with you the customer, and put the money right back into your account if you do not get what you expecte to pay for. Your bank will fax or email you the forms. I don’t know why more people don’t just do this. It also works if you had something stolen from you as well. Hope this helps…do it all the time!
Thanks for the tip. I have always found that CC companies take a hands off approach when there is an issue between a customer and a company and leave the customer to fend for themselves.
You might as well give it a try.
I would like to agree with all of you that the science behind Zerona is not true. I can say this officially, because I work in an office where Zerona has not been very sucessful (after dozens of patients). Most patients signed up for 6 sessions and our office guaranteed 3.5 inches from the waist, hips, and theighs – if not, you would get 6 more sessions free. Alot of patients only lost right around three, both after 6 and after 12. I give the credit to these inches based on the adjustments to lifestyle that are made. It is alot of money and it is a big time commitment. I was very skeptical, but hopeful. I am a size 8, 26 year old woman, who doesn’t work out nearly as much as she should, and is not obese – but definitely weighs about 10 more pounds than I want to. I figured that I would be the IDEAL candidate!
I did 13 treatments (we all get to demo it for free for completing our Zerona training). Don’t ask me WHY I did 13, it just happened that way. I lost 3.8 inches from my neck to my knees. A month after the Zerona ended, I continued the same water regiment, no alcohol, no caffeine, and walking 30 minutes a day…and SURPRISE, I continued to lose weight. Diet and exercise people. Beware of lipo, for the high cost and chance of fat embolisms.
The way to get rid of unwanted body fat is diet and exercise. I assure you, most people who have had success with Zerona are a result of cutting out toxins, increasing water, wearing compression garments, and moderate exercise…I strongly believe that the technology of Zerona has nothing more than a placebo effect on people’s minds. We did another 6 treatments with all four diodes focused right on my inner thighs (believe me there’s plenty to get there – I can’t remember a time in my life where my thighs DIDN’T rub together). After six treatments, there was no change or sucess whatsoever.
The FDA is a scam itself that is fueled by lobbyists, private investors, and run by the Pharmaceutical company. The FDA would never approve anything plastic surgery equivalent, magical, or anything like that. The FDA approved it because it promotes a healthy lifestyle.
The company that owns them – SBMI, are a total joke and unprofessional all around. I have had to leave about 20 messages for our billing person and sales rep to get a call back…I would warn offices and physicians who think that this is an opportunity to increase cash flow in their office. The machine costs a fortune and unless you do about 10 patients a month (at 9 sessions a piece) you will only lose money. I feel so bad for my bosses and the lovely guy who is running our Zerona machine.
Best of luck to all of you and buyer beware!
Also, I should beware you of deals that seem too good to be true. 10 years ago, when the first generation of the Zerona machine came out – they gave the option for a physician or spa to buy a Zerona machine (which means 10 years down the line, they can charge whatever they want for the outdated machine.) I have heard due to the age and lack of updates, that these machines are even more ineffective!!! 600 dollars for 6 sessions, may sound good, but be an entirely bigger ripoff given how outdated the machine is!
If you see a Zerona machine coming at you – run the other way!!
They always put you on a very strict diet, take diuretics and exercise by walking 30 minutes every day. I think the diet and exercise is really behind any weight loss. The Zerona laser is a total waste of everyones time and money. Thanks for your input.
out of all the comments i read about this product you make the greatest statement so far. it seems that most of people who say that it does not work are not doing anything to change in their eating habits. i don’t know how the company advertises the product because i recently purchased 3 treatments for 700. i looked around for the normal prices and i think i got a pretty good deal. I also do believe the whole placebo effect so i don’t expect much from it, but i have changed my eating habits and been exercising for the last 3 years. Ive lost a significant amount of weight and of course i do still eat some junk food, so I personally agree with eating healthy and regular exercise and a way of life towards weight loss. Anything that promises rapid results or you never have to workout is totally bogus and seriously dangerous if you do not educate yourself on these treatments, pills, procedures or however they want to advertise the product. But while i have been changing my habits to eat better and exercising safely i also tried some of these products and while they only work for a short time(because their suppose to) i never stick with them because my progressing lifestyle is what actually contributes to my weight loss. I’m trying this treatment for 2 reasons: 1) i think i was given a good discount(please tell me if I’m wrong :/) and 2) i look at it as any other product that will give me some better”fast” results while I’m still eating healthy and exercising. Thank you everyone for your input.
Right now its advertised on wagjag.com in my city for $199 for 3 treatments.
They are charging $199 too much. It’s not even worth what you may have to pay for parking to go for the treatments.
Sure you got a great deal, but you’re basically paying for 40 minutes of nap time someplace other than your own bed.
I purchased 9 treatments for $1800 (Broomfield, CO). Originally $2500 but the ad said I would get $500 off (basically 3 free). The sales gal gave me another $200 off since I signed up that day. Biggest $1800 down the drain. See my post below (June 3)
Sorry to hear it. I hope others read your reply and take your advice.
Hi guys,
I just finished 3 treatments and guess what I didn’t lost a single pound! And that’s the reason I began searching in google today and I was lead here. Well, to late aah? The reason I didn’t do research from the beginning is because I so wanted to believe this is true, for god sakes some of the best shows like the doctors made advertisements for it so I thought this is for real.
What I don’t understand though, is that some people indeed claim they got results. Therefore, do you believe it works for people and it doesn’t work for others?? In this case people have the right to be aware that it may indeed not work for a lot of people.
I’m in Ontario Canada and I still have 6 treatments to go, but after reading this, I’m really sad and I don’t feel motivated any more. It would have been better spending this money on the dentist to make my teeth look better instead of this BS!
It may work on some people but it doesn’t work on a lot of people. There is no way to tell before hand. The people doing your treatments may put you on a very low calorie protein diet to show that the Zerona “treatment” works, but it is just the diet. Protein diets lose a lot of water weight, so as soon as you go off them you’ll gain a lot of the weight almost over night.
Man this is sad! I really thought I finally got the solution to get rid of my stubborn belly fat. But apparently, like you guys said it’s too good to be true
It’s $3000! not any ordinary amount.
This has been promoted on a lot of TV shows and many people believe these “doctors”. Their shows are for entertainment purposes only.
I am sorry that you all are having bad results. We just got our machine in and after 8 people used it their combined loss was 50 inches. Divide 50 by 8 and that’s 6 and 1half inches over all per person. For laying on a bed and not doing anything thats pretty darn good. We did not ask them to go on a diet or change anything they were already doing.
People running this require you to walk 30 minutes a day, drink gallons of water and they put you on diuretics. Averages mean nothing. One 300lb person may loose a lot and the rest close to nothing. They claim 3 inches for a person. Well 1/4 inch over 20 places one your body means they will be no real noticable difference.
Save your money and avoid Zerona.
All these burn fat quickly and lose weight in no time schemes are directed towards people who are too lazy to do what it really takes to lose weight. There is no magic bullet. You *may* be able to lose some fat with artificial methods but be rest assured that your fat will return if you are inactive and eat unhealthy foods.
Here is my proven method of losing weight:
1) Lots of exercise. No, I don’t mean walking on a thread mill for 10 minutes twice a week. I mean serious exercise, like running a couple of miles 3 times a week, doing lots of weights (and doing it properly – most people don’t know how), plus engaging in some regular sporting activity.
2) Don’t eat yourself to death. Eat just enough to not feel hungry after a meal. Stop eating before feeling full.
3) Eat healthy. Stay away from fat and go easy on sweets. Only eat fast food if there is no other way.
4) Drink healthy. No beer, no pop, no energy drinks. Drink wine but with moderation. Half a glass of red wine at once should be enough.
The above guarantees noticeable weight loss within two months. There is a catch: you can’t stop. You have to keep the it up, otherwise you’ll just get fat again.
True enough. But many people have joint pain and are unable to run 20 yards let alone a couple of miles.
No beer? Commie bastard.
I was ready to have my “free” consultation in a few days. Forget it! I’ve read enough credible comments that will make me run from that idea! Thanks to all!
Way to go (NOT) Lila!
I spent a lot of money for the treatments in Mademoiselle Fitness in London-Ontario. I drank 2l of water every day, took the pills and lived very healthy. I did measurement before and after 6 treatments it was still the same- not 1 cm on my belly. My advise is: SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
Right you are. Too many people are having their money taken with little or no results.
Well, thanks for saving me the money. I was just doing a little research into it, found this forum and now I realize I better just stick to the tough road for weight loss. Thanks guys.
I hate to say it, but diet and exercise are the only thing that works. Or liposuction of course. These are the only ways to get rid of fat.
I’ve been reading and researching fat burning alternatives. Unfortunately, liposuction is the only way to get rid of fat without diet and exercise. I would love to have lipo but I’m afraid to have general surgery. I work with plastic surgeons everyday and they are great guys. Just make sure if you have any plastic surgical procedure done, that it is a plastic surgeon and that he/she is board certified.
Thanks for your advice.
I have done 6 treatments so fad have lost inches already. My clothes are looser. We took before and after photos together and I can really See the results. 6 more to go. I’m quite happy. I agree that not everyone may be a good candidate. I have extra fat from my two little ones. Zeronaworked much faster than dieting did for over a month with a coach. And I do not exercise much due to time spent on treatments. My clinic is the best, I’m going to do it again in the near future. Also, no new changes to my diet, I enjoy pizza, carbs sometimes but do eat healthy as usual. I suppose its hit and miss or just the fact that I have this new accumulation of fat it was easy to eliminate with zerona.
I just watched the Dr Oz show on Zerona, looks too good to be true and probably is. This reminds me of the Lipo Dissolve scam, that one cost be around $3,000 had to stop after the second treatment because of sores and pain, never lost an inch. They professed to have a money back policy if you could not tolerate procedure, NOT – they all went out of business. Another thing to beware of is if they get you to use their credit card company, for which you cannot protest the charges, even though you didn’t get the product. Shame on these programs like Dr Oz, Rachel Ray, and The Doctors that people listen to and trust for offering up these scams to the public. I think I will sit this one out and save my money – back to the gym!
The doctor TV shows are more for entertainment than education. Glad you didn’t spend the $3K. For all the diet advice out there, it comes down to eat less, move more.
If you really feel like you got taken, you should report them to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). They investigate scams.
I think Zerona will be for some legal problems soon enough. Too many people are being ripped off.
@KATHY – The FDA will approve anything that does not harm people. It’s not a confirmation of efficacy.
This is a scam.
Im very disappointed, today I finished my 6th session and I didnt lose anything, im taking “curva” pills that he doctor indicated to me I spent my hard earned money & on 6 treatments that were a complete filmy, doctor altered my measurements to make it look like I lost inches, the doctor pressed the tape really hard to look like it was smaller than the first measurements were different! ZERONA IS A PURE SCAM!
With this money I could get one month of ” bistro MD” delivered to my house ( what really works) and lost many pounds!
Zerona is pure Scam people!
You said it!
HMM, I just paid 200.00 for 3 treatments from Wag-Jag. It sounded so good, I could not resist. So, I guess I will be going for the treatment and hope for the best after hearing all the mostly negative comments. Very few positive ones. Well, I guess you just have to live and learn.
Even if it did work for you, you will not likely see any difference after only 3 treatments. Seems like a loss leader ad – bring you in then try to get you with more “treatments”.
OK – I’m another in the unhappy world. After 9 treatments I saw and felt no results. Of course they ‘showed’ that I lost a total of 5.75″. 2 of those in areas where the laser never touched. And 1.5 on my waste. My waist has never been 31″ (their measurement) so I’m sure they doctored the numbers. My waist is the smallest part of my body and size 6 pants are usually to big in the waist. my waist has always been 28-29″. I should have been better at keeping an eye on what they wrote down in the beginning but she wrote it on a scratch pad and all of the numbers were transferred to a more formal looking document at the final. At the after measurement, she measured my thighs at both 23.5 then noticed no loss (my only target area) and crossed off the .5 show a total loss of 1″. Anyway I had been measuring myself and didn’t have those results. I’m an active petite size 6 just looking to lose in those stubborn areas. I think the people who this seems to be working for are heavier and perhaps the water and walking is a lifestyle change (it wasn’t for me), which without the laser would result in the same. I’d say RUN to anyone who is thinking about trying this. I was skeptical but I couldn’t imagine they would charge for something that really didn’t work. I might file a BBB complaint. Boy was I scammed. Lesson learned!
Have a friend measure you before and keeping the results is a great way to see if they are measuring you with a slackened tape measure before and a tightened one later. Better to avoid Zeronia in the first place.
Another comment of much the same. Spent my time and money on this Zerona light show and no fat or pounds came off. It seems to me that people are taking the supplement they give you and get motivated to go to the gym and diet while in treatment and there is the loss that some are experiencing. Yes waist of money and more importantly my time.
Sorry to hear it David. Thanks for letting everyone know your experience.
My Zerona appointment is at 1:15 pm today. I just read all of your posts at 12:15 pm today. I cancelled my appointment with the Chiropractor selling this. My first big clue was that it was a chiropractor. They are great at what they do (manipulating the body) but often get caught up in selling silly things that doesnt work. My brother in law is a chiropractor. He’s always selling some kind of herb to rub on your knee or coloidal silver to kill pneumonia. Its this quackery that gives their trade a bad reputation.
C’mon Chiropractors. Just do what you went to school for. I dont go to my dentist for botox.
Thanks all of you who took time to post this inf. up here. There are four of us who were getting ready to try this out! I was the test subject. Not now!
Ill stick with P90-x Ive had fantastik results with it over the past year and a half. Im not as ripped as the people in the program, but i look a hell of a lot better than I did. And it didnt cost $1800. Oh and I can run five miles anytime I feel like it. Cant get that with a laser.
Thanks for your comments and glad you cancelled the Zerona “treatments”.
I investigated this after seeing it on the local morning show. No way will I even consider it now.
Thanks everybody.
Way to go, NOT!
i’m on the hcg diet and was considering to combine it with Zerona to get faster result. I’m getting married in few months and i want to look my absolute best. The doctor recommend that I do the above combination but after reading these posts, i’m definitely not doing the Z.
Good move, use your money for the wedding.
I went for a consultation for a Zerona package. Once I was there the owner of the shop said Zerona would not work for me because most of my fat was cellulite.
You got lucky and saved a lot of money. Most consultants take everyone, often for a ride.
And don’t waste your money on the HCG diet injections – scam again! Thanks for your warning on the laser, I was thinking of trying but am on high alert re: expensive scams after HCG – although I got off cheap compared to Zerona. Sorry you had to go through it:(
Thanks for your input. I could have gotten all upset but I wrote about my experience in order to help others avoid this costly scam. As of today over 5,500 people have read this post and if 5,000 of them decided not to spend $3,000 then I’ve helped divert $21 million from Zerona.
Beware Zerona pushers at Premier Fitness in Oshawa, ON… Their Zerona Rep tells you that Zerona will get rid of fat & cellulite in areas that the treatment isn’t even directed at. Nice person, but what a scammer!!! I found a promotion on WagJag for 3 Zerona treatments for $199.00. So I called Premier (who was offering the deal) just to find out how many treatments I would need to see results, & additional costs, time Etc… She would not tell me anything over the phone & told me to come in for a free consultation. In the consultation she was distracted with being so busy, coming in & out of the room, she promised me that Zerona was the answer to my cellulite problems, & me being desperate as summer was here believed her. She had me quickly sign a contract without giving me time to read the fine print, which basically states they do not have to stand by their service, they don’t guarantee results & are not responsible for any promises their reps make… She quickly ran my credit card through and there began the biggest waste of time & money of my entire life. I have also been dieting at the same time and losing weight – any inches lost – I attribute to that. I was looking for something to do what weight loss & exercise could not take care of. Very agrivated!!! I spoke with the Owner after the first 3 visits and asked if I could just get the portion back for the cost above the $199 wagjag deal and she basically said too bad you signed a contract stating you could not get your money back. So I invite everyone and anyone to take to facbook and any blog you can find & shut this Zerona BS down. These people take advantage of other’s desperate desire to get in shape & be healthy. All the while, padding their own pockets – knowing that their promises are overstated at best and providing people with false hope, not to mention draining people’s bank accounts. How do people sleep at night. I know, they lie to themselves – just as they do to others, I think they really believe that they are helping people!? They need to get their heads out of their #!?s & try for once to see past the $$. Please, let’s not let another person suffer the time & $ loss.
Thanks for your story Nancy. Many spas offer Zerona as an additional revenue stream, although when people get ripped off with Zerona they will never go back to that spa for any other treatments. I hope many of these spas just go out of business.
There seems to be a group of individuals with whom this procedure has not worked on and that is not the fault of the laser, nor is the research. The responsibility falls on the doctors to set the patients up on the laser with accordance to their BMI measurement. In our office, we have had full satisfaction from people who have gone through the procedure because we only allow people who qualify through and reject those that will not be successful. Just make sure you are not consulting with a nurse in a money hungry office and you actually get to speak with the doctor to ensure success. The doctors know a whole lot more about your body, how to move lymph from an exercise, diet, and manual standpoint than the nurses. Our office does offer a money back guarantee if we are not successful so ask questions and good luck. Sorry to hear that you had a bad experience Bob, not every office is the same. We work with you every step of the way and we don’t mess around with fads like the HCG diet. The tape that we use hooks into itself so that there is no pulling or tightening on measurements. To be clear, Zerona does not build muscles, it reduces the volume of fat cells. Most of the fat which decreases in size is the portion that the laser circulates over, however, there is a systemic loss in size as the laser also stimulates the KREB cycle.
You seemed to be disappointed after 3 treatments of not seeing results and again, the doctor should have informed you that you actually would start seeing results at the end of your 6th treatment, again, with respect to your BMI. There is a lot that goes into understanding the science of how cols lasers work and its apparent that you went to a place that didn’t care as much for you as they did for themselves. People can’t get them at no cost, there is a huge price tag attached so most places rent the units, renting the unit means that the usage of Zerona is controlled, we own our unit so we have more freedom with it. The questions to ask are, will I be consulting with the doctor? how many people/experience you have with the laser and do you own or rent your laser. I hope this helps, if your in the North Bay, please feel free to contact Downtown Zerona Laser and we will ensure that you have appropriate satisfaction and results.
A couple of problems with your comment. 1) According to your web site, Dr. Darius Bunyad is a Chiropractor, so hence is not a real doctor. And 2) “Downtown Zerona Laser is located inside Wellness Chiropractic at 635 5th Street in Santa Rosa” is very far from North Bay. Though lengthy, this is nothing but a spam comment so your URL has been removed.
I can’t believe all this negativity? I’m going thru the treatments now and only had 2 sessions and already feel and see a difference! You can’t treat this like a miracle and like actual liposuction…the light doesnt “melt” your fat, it opens the pores of the fat cells to release it to the lymph nodes at the top of your legs, it’s up to you to do the exercise during the treatments to get rid of the fat from the cells. As far as you people saying they take 20 measurements, they only take measurements below rib cage, waist, belly button, hips, right thigh and left thigh….and they use a tape measure that has an anchor that hooks into the unit so that it is not loose or pulled too tight.
As far as what I am doing: I’ve stuck to a strict diet of 1200-1400 calories (I’m 5’3″, office job – so I sit all day) and I’m eating lots of vegetables. I was told to exercise for 40 mins each day, not intense exercise either (7 days a week for 4 weeks–1 week before, 2 weeks of treatment, 1 week after up til the followup). I am making sure I don’t waste my money, so I have been waking up 20 mins early just to get exercise in the morning (plus it wakes me up since I cant have coffee!) and I do my 40 mins in the evening. My exercise ranges from kickboxing, to a 40 minute walk while adding “step ups” on a bench, lunges, squats, sprints, etc. along the walk, or an elliptical workout. I am in shape, I did bootcamp classes for a year and a half prior to this but I couldn’t lose my gut. I doubt that my success so far is from the 60 mins total exercise I’ve been doing because I did the 1 hour bootcamp classes prior to this and was at a standstill. I’m also drinking over a gallon of water (I normally drink 5-6 liters anyway) and taking the supplement. Also I was told NO COFFEE OR CAFFEINE or anything besides water really. So i’m sticking to what I am told.
I still have 4 treatments left, I dont expect a 6 pack out of this but I definitely see my middle shrinking. If you’re all doing what you are told, then maybe it’s like others are saying “It doesn’t work for everyone”….just be honest about it, like I said, it’s not going to just melt the fat, if the doctor told you that he was telling you a lie!!
I agree with you completely. If you follow the directions, this WORKS!
If it worked for you then that’s great, but for many it does not.
I have to tell you…this procedure totally worked for me. I followed instructions TO THE TEE. NO ALCOHOL – 70 0Z OF WATER – 40 MINUTES OF CARDIO A DAY – AND WATCHED WHAT I ATE. My husband sees a huge difference in me. I have only had 5 sessions so far. I bought a package of 9 for $2000, and I am THRILLED with the results. I do not work for, nor am I any way involved with the Zerona company. I have not been re-measured yet, but my jeans fit much better. My Dr. told me the procedure is only meant for patients with “problem areas” who have 15 lbs. or less to lose. I think the Curva supplements have a lot to do with the success of the laser, but I really don’t care. This is working for me and I will recommend it to my clients. I am a personal trainer and I think this is a great new tool for people who exercise regularly, but can’t seem to achieve the body that they want.
If you watched what you ate and did 40 minutes of cardio a day you would lose weight regardless of Zerona. There are also many places like spas that offer Zerona and there are in it just for the money.
Respectfully, I have to disagree. I am a personal trainer and work out every day anyway. I will say that cutting out Alcohol may have played a part, but I have lost inches in my thighs which has always been a problem area.
I am not saying this procedure is for everyone, but it worked for me.
I guess we will have to “agree to disagree!”
Have a wonderful day!
Gee, Cleveland girl, reading your comment reminds me of why I avoid so called personal trainers like the plague
Well what can you say when my sister and I did it at the same time and are results were a big fat zero!!!!!!! Dont be a fool and do this treatment.
Sorry to hear it Donna. Too many people are being taken by this garbage “procedure”.
Im doing the treatment now – 4th session is on weds. They say i will notice the difference after 5 sessions. They gave me two tubs of cleanser and a healthy menu diet. So far I think I’m still the same as when I started.
They always push the “extras”. Qut after 5 treatments if you can if you don’t see the results you were told to expect.
Today is my 5th session. Infact, i feel heavier.
I can’t wait to see my measurements.
Let me know how it went.
OK, the zerona failed. i truly believe it is a placebo. The diest plan they put me on is suppose to make me lose the weight. the doctor is giving me a partial refund. So I say OUCH! Let me say it again “OUCH!!”
Lucky you got some of your money back.
After 9 visits, I lost 3.5 inches-all in my KNEES! Isn’t that ludicrous! And that is because they required exercise, so I walked the beach 25-35 miles each week. This such a scam! I sent a complaint letter and here’s just a taste of the excuses and ambiguties: “Since opening, our clients have experienced a great success rate when clients have either met or exceeded the national average of 3.5 inches lost.” duh…what the h-ll does that mean….? I plan to deal with the Better Business Bureau, chiropractic associations and small claims courts. Hopefully someone will start a class action suit!
Good luck to you. Zerona is taking people for a lot of money and providing a B.S. “treatment”.
I personally know a doctor who has a Zerona Laser and I have messed with the machine myself. I put the lasers on my hand for like 30 mins and it does nothing. It’s a huge scam only created so that these bunk wellness doctors can play real doctor. The reason why it is not exposed is they developers work like a mafia. Recently a co-creator of the Zerona wanted to go off and start his own Zerona a part from his partner and he was found murdered a week later.
This is a scam and the public should figure it out. The buttons that start the machine just stays start and stop. There is no adjusting the lasers? WHEN THE HELL DOES A “Low Level Laser” DO ANYTHING FOR YOUR SKIN.
Thank you for publishing this. Saved me from wasting some $$$.
Glad to hear you stayed away from ths scam.
I have done 8 treatments and because of health issues decided not to take the pills not knowing exactly what they do. I took a month break in the treatments because of a bad back and have just restarted. The 8 treatments helped me lose 6 lbs and a few inches. I have not excersiced or changed my eating habits. I’m not sure that everyone knows you are not suppose to have coffee or alcohol during the treatments and a week after. I did abide by that which I’m sure helps the weight loss since I tend to munch after a couple glasses or wine. I found the treatments do not work immediately – it took a week to 14 days from the start to lose the weight. My friend also did it for 12 treatments and lost 8 lbs and 8 inches. I’m happy so far with the results.
Glad it worked for you.
Thanks for publishing this. I was considering buying 9 Zerona treatments for $999 from wagjag, but after reading the comments on this forum….FORGET IT!!!
Glad you saved your money.
PS: Hope you’re sleeping better now Bob knowing you’re at least saving other people from falling for this scam. Also, don’t feel foolish, even intelligent people get scammed some times!
That’s one of the problems with trying something so new that not many others have tried it first. At least others will get the info before trying Zerona.
Lucky and smart are those who read these reviewes before being scammed by Zerona. I made a costly mistake and lost time and money and sleep over this nonsence treatment. Do Bikhram Yoga instead, it works!
Glad you found something that works for you. And Zeron is sure not it!
well, i researched a little late but i still have a chance not to waist the rest of money. Today it came to my mind to check the complaint and i have already spent $500.00 for only 3 treatment consulting with case manager and have not seen the chiaropractor, nor even they mentioned that there is a Dr. here in charge. Today i was supposed to let them know if i agreed to pay $2800.00 more for 12 more treatment. I think maybe half inch i lost from two parts of body and i was exercising anyway and eating organic and healthy. Thanks for all your comments that made me confident not to go through further with rip off and for the money i have paid i know every experience cost something, that was my share to keep people employed!! I know why i researched 10 days late because i trusted the TV show that ZERONA was introduced.
Great that you didn’t go through with the their “program”. Sometimes just changing eatting patterns can help people lose weight. Thanks.
THINK TWICE BEFORE USING ZERONA FROM PREMIER MEDICAL SPA OR PREMIER FITNESS CLUBS
I am a past employee of Premier Medical Spa. I am here to inform you of the business dealings of this company.
Please take care when looking to have alternative procedures done. Premier Medical Spa is run by a woman named Giselle Cardillo. She cares about the mighty dollar over the clients’ health, unfortunately. Staff is forced to meet a monthly sales quota, told that if the quota is not met, then terminating positions is her next step. Everything has to go through her first; if you meet with a potential client, you must call her and confirm pricing, explain the client, etc. If the client has medical reasons that define an absolute inability to undergo treatments offered by the spa, she informs the staff to sell the package nonetheless and get the contract signed. The contract conveniently states that all purchases are non-refundable. Giselle also forces staff to sell treatments to people when they know it is not the right treatment for them and they will see no results. Premier gets their money, Giselle continues to live in her 2.5 million dollar home in Brampton, and the client loses out. Period. Attempts by clients to retrieve their money is ignored. Always. You also do not see a doctor in consultations. You see someone without medical training and it is them that you are trusting with your health background.
Please think twice before putting your life in the hands of Giselle Cardillo. She is not a doctor, just a woman who wants to make as much money as possible by means of running a dirty business.
For anyone pondering the idea of applying; please note that payroll is less than adequate (constant pay discrepencies, late pay, refused pay, etc), the promise of perks are falsified, and within just a month or two you will feel that you have sold your soul to the devil. Giselle is that devil..
Zerona is very often run my people who own spas as there is nothing to really know to operate the machine other than push a button. From my experience and that of countless others you might as well shine a flashlight on yourself to lose weight. Thanks for the insight.
This is a scam!!! DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING SUCKED IN TO THIS!! I paid $2,400 for 12 session’s. I wanted to try the 6 sessions for 1800.00 at first but was told becuase of my age (45) that I maybe in peri menopause and wouldnt se any results in 6 sessions… mind you no MD ever exams you.. shame on me but I really wanted to believe it and I wanted it to work. During the treatments I followed the protocol very carefully and wasnt loosing 1 single pound. I was told it’s the inches that count..didnt loose any of those either!! only after the 12 sessions do they measure you and I lost 1 .4 total inches.. thats NOTHING!! During the sessions maybe 8 or 9 I started complaining and that is when they began pushing the HCG drops for another $600.00..I didnt want to do that because I wanted to see for sure if this scam works or not! It did’nt!! I will tell you that I did try the HCG injections and this works..I’m still out $2,400.00. I hope someone starts a class action law suit I do want my money back and they should shut every single center down ASAP!! please do not fall for this
BTW I didnt get the HCG from the criminals over at Forever Trim in Plantation FL.. who buy the way have another scam on their radio ads they have one girl say they guarantee it and another girl say call them today..I read the paper work they do not guarantee any results..legally they have covered all their bases.. Not nice! they actually pass this off as a non surgical alternative..PLEASSSSSSSSSE Give me a break no comparrison at all.. there is a special place in hell for the people who run these centers.. they HAVE to know what they are doing to people..Taking their hard earned money and the fact of this matter is that its not true and it doesnt work. AS FAR AS THE HCG goes it does works..You can purchase it on line and its not any where near as expensive as the Zerona rip off scam!! Good luck
There are many alternatives cheaper than Zerona – and they work!
This “treatment” is run by spas, chiropractors and even dentists. No real doctors are involved – they can’t afford to lose their license whereas the others can close up and reopen under a different name. I have only heard of 1 person getting part of their money back. Since the Zerona machine probably tracks the number of sessions, the people running this scam have to pay the Zerona company their cut as part of their lease agreement for this worthless junk. Thanks for your experience.
I don’t know about other places but the MediSpa in Ocala is endorsed by a real doctor named Dr. Hunt. He delivered my baby 31 years ago. I don’t intend to spend the money for the procedure but wanted you to know that some places do have real doctors.
I am not trying to be mean, however….Real doctors can, unfortunately, get wrapped up in the almighty (yes, I am going to say it) chinga, …$…Dollar!
Especially in this day when malpractice insurance is so high (ESPECIALLY for, you guessed it…baby doctors) Correct me if I am wrong, but Ocala is in, Florida? I believe FL may be the highest OB/GYN insurance in the nation. Please take a look at this article:
Florida has some of the highest rates of liability insurance. Moreover, the deviation between low and high averages varies in Florida more widely than in almost any other state. For instance, a doctor in internal medicine in Florida could expect to pay in excess of $56,000 per year for insurance as of 2009, in contrast with Minnesota’s $4,000. General surgeons paid in between $90,000 per year and $175,000 per year or more. OB/GYNs once again could expect the highest rates, with liability coverage ranging from $100,000 to $200,000 per year.

Lesa
It’s been studied over 200 times and all shows it doesn’t work for everyone but majority it does work. So it DOES WORK. Just because the 5%-15% of people it doesn’t work for take to the Internet to complain doesn’t disprove the studies. My brothers a craniofacial surgeon and b4 I got the treatments done he read over the studies science and approved. Real doctors DO back this product and they can’t loose their license when studies supported by the FDA are available for review saying it works. Again NO treatment works for everyone. My clinic there’s a doctor and they tell you there are some people it doesn’t work for. You people are idiots discouraging individuals when science says the MAJORITY it does work.
Who are more likely to share their opinion on the Internet ? People it didn’t work for and are mad and upset or people it didn’t. It’s really sad that IT DOES work for most people but the people it doesn’t work for are so mad/angry they try to discourage people who could Benefit. Shame on all of you tryin to take your anger out on people just because you didn’t Benifit. Brainwashing people into thinking its a scam when you have NO science / medical background just 1 bad experience . Again your bad experience doesn’t disprove the 10 other people it worked for….
I had a total of 12 visits, 6 I had paid for the other 6 were given to me free from the Spa since I complained the first 6 didn’t work. IT IS A SCAM! Please no one consider this. I didn’t see any type of results. I did follow the regimen they suggested too. I have filed a complaint to the Better Business Bureau on the makers of Zerona.
I contacted Zerona via their web site about their product not working. Guess what? Never heard from them.
I bet they won’t even respond to the BBB complaint.
Of course not. If they were legit, they would be ready and willing to contact you within 24 to 48 hours like any real company.
Well good for you. Everyone seems to talk about wanting to do something about it. BUT YOU ACTUALLY DID.
That will ease some of the pain by not sitting back and doing nothing. I will say atlease bob did do this site to vent out and exspouse them. Now will someone sue them. ???
Email your friends the link to this article. The more people know, the more they can avoid being taken by this Zeron scam.
Also, don’t believe anything Dr. Oz says. Green coffee beans, raspberry ketones or any other “diet” miracle ARE ALL CRAP AND A WASTE OF MONEY.
I would be all game on starting a class action suit. Zerona is the biggest joke. It is pathetic that they haven’t been shut down yet. I guess as the old saying goes ” when it sounds too good to be true, then it is too good to be true.”
A lot of people have mentioned class action suits but no one is willing to start one.
I don’t know what is involved in starting one. I guess I can check into it.
I don’t know what you did wrong but I have lost 15 1/2 inches and 7 lbs of pure fat. I drink a lot of water; I do not eat fried or fatty foods, cut out the carbs, no caffeine or alcohol and walk as much as possible. I am a 43 yr old menopausal fm, I am disabled and cannot work out like most people my age. Each person is different but to call this a scam is just an out rages
I never claimed it doesn’t work – just that for many people it does not work and you don’t get any of your money back.
Really, if this is true please post a before and after photo’s. I believe some people are being paid to say they have results. Is that you?
I find that if something “works” for a few people out of a thousand than the results are not statistically significant. Some people on Zerona lose weight, not because of the laser, but because they are essentially following an Atkins like, calorie reduced diet.
Again… The Internet* is not statistically significant because who will primary post about their experience those upset or those who got results. People who get results go on with their life.. People who don’t come here and rant. It works for the majority …the complainers on the Internet of course come here. But for every 1 complainer there’s 10 people who did get results and dont care about silly blogs. And the studies people who followed just the diet ie, control group. It not working for you or her or him doesn’t disprove the treatment. Now it’s a conspiracy theory also known as human nature, thinking your results are the only ones that matter.. Finding other people who feel the same. It’s so silly that everyone thinks omg so many people it didn’t work for, when the 5% of the people it didnt work for make up 90% of the Internet chatter about it.
When it doesn’t work you don’t get your money back and that is the scam.
That is exactly right. If a company can’t back up itself by giving a refund for not providing a quality service or a service that does what it says it does is truly indeed a SCAM. It definately didn’t work for me. I still don’t believe this works for anyone, because if it did, it would be all over the news. If someone chooses to do the Zerona, please make sure there is a money back guarantee or you will be like all of us who have tried to warn you.
I am wondering at what point you started to see results. I bought 6 Zerona sessions through a Living Social deal, I am on session #4, but so far no weight loss and no inches missing. A woman I met while waiting for my session told me she lost 20 lbs and went down a size, but it seemed to happen after the sessions were done. Just wondering if there is still hope for this to work for me.
Doubt it is going to happen. She probably was working for them.
There’s always hope. But with Zerona it’s more likely only your bank account is going to lose weight. If you’re not happy with the results after 6 sessions, cut your losses and don’t buy any more. And don’t buy any supplements they will try to sell you either.
Cut 500 calories a day from your diet and go for a daily walk.
I think this is hysterical.
To say to others…. “I don’t know what YOU did wrong” and then follow it with “I cut out this and that and this and that. is ridiculous to say the least.
Any other health craze, or miracle pill, or wrap or whatever, does not ask that you do anything else along with it. PERIOD. Yes, I want to see the before and afters, but you still haven’t posted them, so it is a scam.
I agree. I spent 2000 for 6 treatments. NOTHING. Followed everything they told me to do. All the reply I received was “well you just need 6 more treatments”. Then when I asked if they would guarantee I would lose inches after that or refund my money I was told “no you signed our agreement that you understood this treatment may not work”. S C A M!!!
Lots of people have been taken in by Zerona. The only weight most people lose is weight from their bank account.
I an reading a few complaints of the laser NOT working, I have to wonder though are they following the diet? No mention of this because in order for anything to work properly there are restrictions and rules, NO machine in the world will work without diet and consumpution intake?
If the thing worked as well as they claim, you shouldn’t have to do anything else. It’s like the diet pills Sprallmart sells – if taken with calorie reduced diet and exercise you lose weight. They why bother taking the pills? If you change several factors which one is responsible for the results? The only weight many people seems to lose with Zerona is weight from their bank account.
That’s like saying “If I take Lipitor, I should be able to drink Crisco and eat buffalo wings for every meal.” Even with lapband surgery, people are required to change their diet. Get lapband and suck down Ho-Ho’s…you’re not going to lose/keep off weight like someone who eats healthy and is active as they tell you to do.
I have no problem with that.
What type of diet or program do you follow? This is the first I have heard about it?
Thanks
I just drink a glass of water 20 minutes before meals and more during the afternoon so as to to be dehydrated in the evening and then have a tendacy to evereat. Just reducing my milk consumption (110 calories per glass) has helped a lot. I’ve aready lost 10 pounds.
The point is….they sell it like it will work without doing anything else. And I’ve been to one of the places, and that is exactly what they told my husband and I when we went, was that it worked without changing anything else at all.
Interestingly enough, the woman behind the desk was at least 100 pounds overweight, and the woman we talked to was at least 50 pounds overweight. This alone told us that it probably didn’t work, or these women would have been fit and trim!
Great observation.
If this worked then you wouldn’t need the diet and exercise. Diet and exercise work without any expensive gimmicks. Since last November I have lost 52 pounds. I tracked my calories, walked my dogs, drank lots of water and the weight fell off. I was never hungry except at meal times and am in better condition then I have been in years. I am almost 59 years old and have had Multiple Sclerosis for over 30 years. Skip the hypes, go to a reputable web site or organization. Livestrong (my personal choice) and Calorie Count are two of the best I found. That being said, there are tons of these sites that are free, give out excellent advice and will make you thin if you really want to be. If they or anyone promises miracles, they are lying. Or if you want to be miserable over loosing a few grand you can go have “lipolaser” nonsense done and hope it works.
That why the push the water, exercise and food reduction – it’s those things that cause the weight loss not their laser.
I had 6 treatments, I wasted my money, no change at all.. I did everything they told me to do, no more than 1 cup of coffee a day, no alcohol, took the supplement they gave me, walked or exercised everyday, drank 8 8oz glass of water. I don’t know what % it doesn’t work on but it didn’t work on me Period!!
Just like a lot of other people. Glad you didn’t fall for them pushing more treatments, potions and lotions.
I had three treatments done. There was no result whatsoever. I quickly saw that the Zerona laser did not work at all for me. I drank, was dieting, and exercising. After the third treatment my waist measurement was one half inch greater. The clinician just scratched her head. I think all the extra water was making me bloated. Anyway, save your money and do the diet and exercise.
Glad you bailed before they got you for 10-12 treatments.
Doctors should be telling people that the procedure is not for anyone who is fat. Don’t mean to be harsh, but it seems like the people who find no results have dense fat to lose. The ones who do see results, like me, have looser, softer fatty tissue…and not a lot of it. I was only 175 lbs at 6’2″, but had a little “layer.” I did the procedure because, after a year of p90x and weight training and swimming, I couldn’t break that weight plateau. I was down 15 lbs from 190, but nothing I could do would move that little fat layer. I should note that I also took CLA, sesamin, fish oil, multi vitamins, and milk thistle and ate an incredibly healthy diet (no sugar, caffeine, little alcohol, salads, etc). I didn’t change my routine at all. I did 6 sessions of Zerona, added curva to my diet, wore a compression garment, and drank the required amount of water. After it was all said and done, I lost 9 1/2 inches total, I’m down to 153, I went from a L to M shirt, and 34″ pants to 30″. I’m headed back for extra sessions, 3×40 min, on my back flanks where the fat is a little more dense. I’m hoping the longer sessions will break up that more dense, stubborn fat. All said, Zerona worked for me. I actually see abs for the first time in my life and I weigh as much as I did my freshman year of high school. You’re right, it’s not for everyone. I wish doctors could pinpoint who is a good candidate. After my own experience and reading others blogs and seeing pics, I think I hold true to my theory. If you squeeze your fat and it’s hard and dense, or you have a LOT of fat, I don’t think Zerona is for you. Little layer of baby fat keeping you from looking your best? Give it a shot. It could change your life forever! I hope this info helps someone and provides a counterpoint to the “scam” claims. The scam is in the doctor and their acceptance of any and all patients…not in the procedure itself. Thanks, and best of luck to all!
That’s great that it worked for you. You also are lucky that you saw a doctor as many Zerona lasers are in spas and their primary goal is revenue, hence they take everyone who’s credit card goes through. If there was just a test that could be perfomed beforehand or some guidelines to accept just suitable candidates then Zerona could be a useful procedure as you have found.
It really should be taken out of the hands of spas. My doctor is a plastic surgeon and, while I’m sure he wants money like the rest of us, I was pleasantly surprised when he saw me and said “you’re already relatively skinny and there are no guarantees” then offered to refund everything I had already paid (through Groupon) if I wanted to back out. Hopefully, in the future, there are more standards and tests. I think my “soft fat/hard fat” test is about as accurate as its going to get for the near future, though.
Thanks for the info.
wait a minute…
you’re 6’2″ tall… and 153 lbs!!!???
AND YOU’RE GOING BACK FOR MORE TREATMENTS????
are you sick?
seriously
Some believe you can never be too rich or too thin. I’m 6′-1″ and my target weight is 172, based on medium BMI numbers.
Anyone who is a long distance runner is usually very lean. To each his own.
Sadly, the Zerona where I live is also a complete hoax. I have a different story though.
I haven’t tried it but my cousin in law (who has no medical background what so ever) was hired to work at the Zerona clinic and is the only employee there. The owners work in a city 20 miles away.
My cousin was hired because of her looks. Knowing her personally, she doesn’t eat very healthy but is a size 2 and has had some plastic surgery and a boob job. I often suspected she was hired so the owners could portray she had Zerona and look what it did for her, even though she has never had it. The other day she confirmed that part of their gimmick is just that. She lies to others about having the procedure. Sorry but Zerona is just another scam.
The diet and exercise are what cause the weight loss. Zapping with a laser do not!
Thanks for sharing your experience with Zerona.
I just completed 10 treatments of zerona and there was no change at all. I had it done at a chiropractic office and her response to everything was, ” you must be pretty disappointed huh”? She didn’t offer any type of compensation whatsoever. She said I must be resistant to it because she hasn’t had that happen before. She then offered me to do a body cleanse diet that she would provide shakes for. Well obviously I would lose inches if I was on a strict diet. I am only about 15 pounds overweight and was so excited about losing those extra inches. So for those of you who haven’t done it yet, don’t bother wasting your money. Put it aside for a tummy tuck and get the results you really want.
Sorry to hear about your un-loss.
People should just put their money in your suggestions, or a gym membership or start a walking program – anything other than Zerona.
I am an Exercise Physiologist and have read the research and the claims that Zerona makes. First of all the science behind it is solid, all Zerona does is allows the free fatty acids (FFAs) to exit our fat cells and the body will burn the FFAs through through era oxidation which is simply the body fat for fuel. I have to agree with some of other comments that you need to accompany this with a healthy diet that includes whole foods and an exercise program that includes low to moderate aerobic (burning fat) exercise. Other issues like adrenal fatigue, where you have cortisol levels which are out of normal healthy range, can also have an affect on your outcome. Sounds like the problem is where you had this done. The science behind Zerona is solid and happens in your body 24/7, Zerona just allows us to burn fat calories much easier because your fat cells have been opened up. There is no one thing that will make you lose weight and keep it off. It always has been and always will be an overall healthy diet accompanied with a smart exercise program. Like I said earlier Zerona can help jump start your bodies fat burning abilities.
Thanks for your input. I appreciate your comments. But I have to disagree with you. Zerona makes big claims and when their machine doesn’t deliver, it’s too bad for the person who paid for the treatments. If it really worked as they claimed then they would stand behind it and refund any money if it didn’t. But they do not.
I have emailed Zerona about my concerns and guess what – I never heard back from them.
And there are too many other people like Jennifer who went through 10 sessions and saw “no change at all”. Some people do see results and that’s great, but Zerona should back up their claims with cash.
Hey
We all think people are honest. You want it to work. You trust these people. You see photo’s in the office. Day 1–Day 6. You hope it works for you. But Zerona does not work. For the people on here telling people it didn’t work for them because they didn’t follow the guidelines. That they didn’t excerise, drink water. take the water pills, come every other day, don’t drink alcohol. I did it all and not results. I have always done some type of excerise, don’t eat much, drink water all the time. No Soda, juices, or other sugary drinks. So let these people give their opinion, and their facts. Class Action Lawsuit?
Judy
Sorry to hear it, but you are another person who got hooked by Zerona.
Judy,
I totally agree. Those that have spent money should start a class action lawsuit and DESERVE to get their money back.
Mark my words, within a year or two, this thing is gonna be another ‘pet rock’ fad, and no one is going to be spending their money on it any longer.
Lesa
Thanks for the intelligent comment with the credentials to back it.
Ally
The place I went to never even told me about being on a strict diet while doing xerona. Infact, I asked her if I should be on one and she said no that it wasn’t necessary. Some Drs may be more honest with their clients but mine just wanted to sell it to me and told me how wonderful it was. She also showed me before and after pics of her clients and come to find out that other dr offices have the same pictures in their office. Your better off trying to diet and exercise on your own and save money. I just wanted these last 15 pounds off and ended up with a 2,000 dollar bill and lots of disappointment
Too many people have experienced the same thing.
I just saw a tv ad for it and was going to look into it to find out the cost. Glad I didn’t bother. My philosophy is if it sounds TOO good 2b true, it probably IS.
You got that right!
My friend and I purchased the zerona package for $1,500 each and paid it in full, after the 3rd treatment, I haven’t seen any results but I remained optimistic about it, after 15 sessions, I still have not list an inch, neither has my friend, this place is a scam, and you will not get your money back either! I got into a verbal argument with the owner, and I immediately reported him to the BBB.
Anyone even considering Zerona should start by checking out the place they are considering with the BBB. If they have unresolved complaints or a poor score SAVE YOUR MONEY.
Start a walking program and look at what your are eatting and drinking and see if you can cut out 500 calories a day. During the beginning of a walking program you may acually gain weight. This is because the largest muscle in your body, your thigh, is getting stronger and larger and muscle weights more than fat. But keep with it as you will hit a tipping point where the muscle will start to even burn calories while at rest and you will begin to see results. Give it a good month and you’ll see.
I used to drink 6-8 glasses of milk a day and even 1% milk is 110 calories, so just by cutting back on the milk and having a desert only once a week, I easily cut out 500 calories. Since a pound of fat represents about 3500 calories, you can lose a pound a week.
Slow and steady wins the race.
Don’t use a spa. Find a plastic surgeon or, at least, a doctor.
Just want to share my final results after 8 treatments…down 9 1/2 inches. That’s JUST my upper and lower abdomen. My DOCTOR…a real doctor…didn’t measure the untreated areas.
My experience was fantastic. Do your research…and take into consideration what I posted earlier about being a good candidate for Zerona. I’m not a doctor…but having gone through it and seeing various peoples results, I think I might be o. To something.
Best of luck to all!
Indeed. You qualify at a spa if your credit card is good, and that is ALL. Do doctors have a BMI maximum for Zerona?
Thanks for your comments, Jay.
I’m not sure if there is a max or not…but if there is, I’d rather have it measured by a doc than a random spa employee! Weight loss and body fat are serious HEALTH issues. EVERY diet plan, drug, etc says “consult your physician beforehand.” And there’s a reason! If it was legal, I’m sure spas would jam a shop vac into your stomach and “suck out the fat.” After all, that’s what a doctor does with lipo, right?!
. Don’t sell yourself short when it comes to your health.
Thanks for the great advice Jay.
Hey Jay, can you please tell me where you got your treatment done or what resources you used to find a good doctor in your area?
As a nurse, I was hired, by a SURGEON, at a Zerona centre. I thought it must be legit. I WAS WRONG – People – use the $$ for a trainer, healthy groceries, and forget about magic lasers!!! I have never felt so stupid in my life and I am educated, and have been on the weight loss journey for many many years. Anyone with results have done so because of their diet and the niacin. Place the credit where it belongs…….
Thanks for posting.
Finally someone who can clearly and scientifically let all know this overpriced money making scam is just that. A big scam.
Lesa
Thanks for your insight Sam. Anyone can be taken so don’t feel bad.
Bob,
Thanks for sharing all of this information. After seeing the results of everyone here, it seems that the amount of times it does work, may be about 5-10% of the time. Those aren’t good enough odds for me to put out money for. I don’t care if it is 5 bucks or 1000. It just isn’t worth it.
I think Jonel said it best….”if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is”.
We’ll save our money and join the gym, or start using our workout dvds.
Thanks again!
I don’t know what the percentage is, but it sure seems to be very low as there are so many people who have seen no results using Zerona.
…oh and btw, go to this website: (http://blog.plasticsurgeryinflorida.com/2009/06/lipo-laser-does-it-work.html), and you will see that even a well respected board certified plastic surgeon as well as many other board certified plastic surgeons, are telling the world that this DOES NOT WORK! It is PROVEN medically to not work. And if you believe that it does, you are better off going out and purchasing a $2 laser pointer, because the amount of laser power this machine (Lipo Laser/Zerona) have is equal to such!
It is also four THOUSAND times less powerful than the laser used for skin resurfacing.
Please people, don’t fall for this scam. It is obviously working for a few people because they have changed their diet or because of the “placebo effect”. Yes, you can lose weight by tricking your mind into “thinking thin”. Do a search on the internet and you will see that this is true.
Good luck in all of your health endeavors!
Thanks for the link. I’m glad people in the medical profession are speaking out against Zeron’s so called treatment.
After reading the comments over the past month, it’s obvious to me that it is not the Zerona method that is the problem, it’s where you are having your treatments done. The zerona method DOES NOT kill the fat cells, it gently opens them up so the triglycerides that are in the cells can leak outside of the fat cell and then through proper hydration (most people are dehydrated already from too much alcohol, caffeine and diet pop) and diet and exercise can be transported to the blood so the muscles can burn the free fatty acids. Now regarding the plastic surgeon comment, of course they don’t want this treatment to work because they will lose money. Why would they endorse something that will take money from them. Liposuction and other invasive procedures kill the fat cells or completely removes them. Fat cells are part of the endocrine system which helps regulate insulin levels, leptin (the hunger hormone) and other important hormones. Removing or killing these cells IS NEVER a good idea. Drinking plenty of water is crucial to getting those fat droplets that are sitting outside of the fat cell after a zerona treatment into the blood stream. You also have to limit your sugar and alcohal intake. If you do not, your body will prefer to burn the sugar and the alcohol and not the free fatty acids that are floating around in your blood. Zerona is not the end all treatment to help the obesity epidemic in this country, but combined with proper hydration, improved diet and exercise it can have a huge impact.
Thanks for your comments. If you think Zerona is an effect treatment then please have it done and let us know how it went.
You are absolutely INCORRECT about the statement regarding plastic surgeons. In fact, the Zerona was made and is being pushed by sales people to plastic surgeons as a simple way to bring in extra income. Not only is it free to have on site, but it is automatic almost zero overhead money in the pocket, because a monkey can run the machine and there is no need to even have a doctor present while doing so. However, it is sold so much easier by a doctor, because most people will believe anything a doctor tells them. These “board certified” physicians (and not, not all of them are plastic surgeons) are simply not willing to scam their customers. Which is exactly what it is, a scam. That is why they have to tell you that everyone differs. If you go in an pay for liposuction, you are given a promise to get rid of a certain area.
So, if you want to waste your money on a placebo, you can. Personally I will stick to what really works to keep me in shape. And for anyone that truly has an obese amount of fat, save your dollars and join a gym for 99 dollars a year!
It seems no matter how intelligent the response people still want to toss opinions around. Your is not an opinion, your’s is a fact! Ty!
This Zerona is a scam. The only thing I lost was $3000 and although they told me that I lost inches, my clothes never fit any different and I followed the diet. No wonder they want your money in advance and no guarantees, because it doesn’t work.
You can lose inches from any diet, but this is terrible to take people’s money for nothing. Shame on me for falling for it.
Sorry to hear it Barb. Hopefully other people will learn from your experience and not fall for Zerona.
I had 9 sessions. I had great results. I did not use vibration sessions I walked 30 min post treatments! I lost over 9 inches and still ate. I think you have to go into it knowing that it will come back if you eat a pizza and drink a 6 pack of beer. I’m sorry but it’s true! This was amazing and I want to do more. My only complaint is that the tech was chatty. I really wanted to lay there in the dark and listen to my iPod and she hung out to bond. Ugh! Next time I am gonna express the desire to relax! I think if you are ready for life style changes and want a jump start to skinny… Go for it!! Good luck!!
The pizza and beer comment was my attempt at some humor (very little). Anyways, glad it worked for you, but the problem is is does not work for many people and you don’t get your money back when it doesn’t.
Save your money because, like in Vegas, the house odds are against you.
Hello.. This is what I think and it may be a good start for those who Zerona didn’t work for. This machine all it does is to speed up the process of fat absorption. It opens up the cells and then your system wipes it off as normal… most complications are due to diminished function of the liver or lymphatic system. SO if it Didn’t work.. your system must me polluted with toxins~. Get a nice lymphatic system drainage massage and do a nice long detox diet, to get your system to work properly. This way you can eliminate the fat cells. If you don’t do this then your wasting your money with ANY procedure.
Interesting theory, but sorry I don’t buy it. If someone is in good health then there is nothing wrong with their lymphatic system. Zerona is just junk and should be avoided.
this is crazy. You simply HAVE to change your lifestyle for any weight loss to occur. Very simple. Less food in =more weight lost. Simple. But hard to do.
You’re right. I made some dietary changes and have lost almost 15 pounds since Christmas.
I was seriously considering purchasing a groupon for $999.00 that i really cant afford but I was wanting a miracle. Im so glad I researched it first as I wont waste my money on this! Ive already lost money on other advertisements, so thank you so much for being honest….its hard to come by.
Glad you saved your money. There are many other options other than Zerona. Try a walking program and cut 500 calories out of your daily diet and the pounds will start to come off.
Ever heard the term “buyer beware?” every intelligent response u get from someone being slightly objective about the nature of this treatment is followed by an ignorant victimized answer.
Just because people have read the “actual” scientific examples, done by “real” board certified, well known doctors, and have expressed that this absolutely can not work scientifically, and that is why it is NOT FDA approved, does not equal ignorance. In fact it is quite the opposite. If you want to believe that a machine that is equal to a laser pointer is going to get rid of your fat, than that is wonderful for you. If you want to spend thousands of dollars on something that is not even equal to a homeopathic treatment, go for it. But don’t call others ignorant because you want to believe that you can lose weight from essentially pointing a laser pointer at your fat stomach!
Well it is FDA approved so yeah, ignorant response yet again. It doesn’t work by itself. It requires the individual to do some of the work. This program is for people that already live well and exercise regularly, looking to eliminate that last troubling bit.
Buyer beware means if that u are fat lazy fuck American, don’t expect a miracle.
The FDA approval is a blanket approval that they received simply because it uses “a similar type” of process that an earlier product uses. This includes high intensity lasers. It has only been approved that it is safe to use, it has not been approved that it is effective. For that to happen, the FDA has to do studies of real people using the machine over a period of time (exactly like they do for drugs) and that is not the case. Machinery is not in the same class as drugs either, because it isn’t something ingested. Still, anything that makes you think you will lose weight can have a placebo effect. If spending thousands of dollars to try to do something to your body that you should be doing naturally is in your game plan, go for it. I’m going to keep my shape by eating healthy and moving my body.
Oh, and if it is for that last few pounds, as you state, why are they NOT advertising it as such? And btw, doesn’t matter if you are the ridiculous childish term you used or not (which you must be talking about yourself), it doesn’t work….but keep spending your money, as long as it is in America, it helps the economy.
I don’t use it. Just interested in the debate
Oh, and btw, that isn’t any victimized answer. And I can only speak for myself, however, I don’t believe that any of the others are acting “victimized”.
I am one of those “buyer beware” people. I didn’t fall for this hoax and spend any money on this treatment (and I am using the term “treatment” VERY loosely), nor would I bother even doing it for free, because I know what a waste of time it would be.
Your absolutely right! A doctor named Robert Jackson in Marion, IN did a butcher job on me! I went in for lipo and got a tummy tuck htat left scars all the way up to my hips. I look like I went to a jiffy-lube for surgery. I also contracted for other areas an got nothing other than the butcher job on my belly. This guy presented himself as the all-fired great doctor; “trust me I am the president of this medical group, etc.” All the man is, is one of those scam artists. According to a nurse I met who works for them; “It does no good trying to sue them as they are in bed together getting kick-backs and all kinds of benefits yet they will say, “Its just that I don’t believe in sueing people.” What a load of crap!!
I wouldn’t call Zerona a scam but it’s pretty close. I’m not overweight (124 lbs, 5’5″) but have always had a fat belly no matter how much weight I lose or how much I exercise (I go to a gym twice a week.) After paying $1875 which is non-refundable, I realize that someone who is overweight and follows the guidelines to walk every day, drink 8 glasses of water a day, and eat a low-fat diet would most likely lose inches with or without Zerona. Needless to say I’m not very happy about my outcome. I go for the last measures this week but I really don’t see much improvement. Hope this helps someone else.
Thanks for your comment. Many people have had very disappointing results.
Listen everyone. Do the right research. This is NOT a miracle machine. Every Zerona website I have looked at (8 now) all say no caffeine no alcohol healthy eating plan and some exercise will maximize results. The people that this does not work for are lazy and don’t want to put in the effort to maximize results. Just to clarify I am active in the military not a spa or Zerona employee.
Your uninformed opinion has as much importance as Paris Hilton commenting on stress in the workplace.
If Zerona truly opened up fat cells and worked as they claim, them a person shouldn’t have to do anything different for it to work.
That they insist on other requirements should get everyone’s B.S. meter ringing. It’s no different than TV info-commercials that claim you can lose 10 pounds and 10 inches in 10 days by using their ab machine.
Then the disclaimer at the bottom of the screen pops up that says “When combined with a calorie reduced diet and aerobic exercise. Results may vary.”
It’s the diet and exercise that is causing the weight loss, not their ab machine and Zerona is no different.
If you think it’s wonderful, then plunk your $3K down.
People didn’t put 30 extra pounds on in 30 days, so they shouldn’t expect to safely lose it in that time.
Walk 30 minutes a day, cut 500 calories from your daily diet and stop late night eating. And the cost is zero. It will take longer, but when you reach your goal, go on a $3K vacation.
BRAVO Bob!
So very well said!
Absolutely the perfect truth!
I completely disagree with your rude comment. I tried the procedure and it didn’t work. I don’t drink alcohol or caffeine. I drank the minimum of 8 (8oz) glasses of water per day, excercise 5 days per week and ate a no carb diet. I have done 8 treatments and have seen no results. This is a complete scam and hope that people read these comments so they won’t waste their money. I am not a lazy person and actually was hoping to cut just a few inches off my waist. I have had three c-sections and have had difficulty losing that extra fat on my stomach. I am not overweight. This procedure just doesn’t work!! Be careful who you’re calling lazy.
The few people who think Zerona worked for them can be opinionated. They are often gym rats, so they would have lost the weight with their workouts and Zerona was just a placebo effect.
Everyone who had poor results with Zerona have followed the instructions. Thanks for your comments.
I paid $1600 for 6 treatments and took the Curva supplement. It did not work for me. The employee said that maybe I needed more treatments, but that they would no longer offer the Zerona after another week. The office was getting rid of the machine!!! They still did not offer me a refund!
Probably getting too many complains. A spa can really ruin their reputation by using Zerona.
And they almost never offer any refund – just trying to sell you more “treatments” or other supplements.
I wish I would of done a little bit more research before today. I go in for my “free consultation” and 1 treatment tomorrow morning. After reading the entire blog, thanks to Bob, I’m nervous about going. As of right now, I’ve only been charged $97.00. I’ve now been “informed” to the majority of the results. I won’t pay a penny more, unless my husband notices. (He doesn’t know what day my apt is on) I will go, probably to yet another dog & pony show, but a little more leery. Thanks again to all.
Just be careful because they will claim you are an ideal candidate for Zerona (i.e. your credit card went through).
Let us know how it went.
I have just completed my 5th session of Zerona with 8 more to go. As of this morning I have lost 6 pounds and 3.5 inches. I started at 241lbs and now sit at 235. I workout 5-6 times a week and have been taking the supplements that my Doctor gave me to take during this process. I am sorry to hear so many people have had bad experiences with this treatment but I am actually very happy with the results thus far. One interesting thing I have noticed is the ability to pinch my skin away from the fat on on my belly which is where the laser has been pointed every treatment. Also, my Doctor was very straight forward about what my expectations should be and ow the process works. It sounds to me like most of the individual’s on here halve been given unrealistic expectations which is terrible. The machine does not claim to take away fat, it claims to open up the fat cells and liquefy the fat so through good diet and exercise it speeds up the process by where the fat can leave the system. This is not a miracle machine and should not be sold as such. It is however a machine that can and at least for me has given me the opportunity to jump start my weight loss.
It is a blessing that you are happy. However, do you realize that after working out 5-6 times a week, AND taking weight loss supplements, you are bound to lose AT the very least the amount of weight you are losing? Fat cells can NOT “leak” as this doctor is trying to tell you. Even very highly recognized doctors will tell you this over and over. Please save your money and don’t let these charlatans make more and more money. There are many doctors that are out there who are actually proving the others are wrong. Why would they do this??? They could be soaking up the $$$ yet they are choosing to listen to the science the says that a laser pointer absolutely can NOT make a fat cell open up and leak. And if it could. Wouldn’t it make sense that you wouldn’t have to change your diet and do all of the other things too?
Please don’t fall for this bunk. If it is too good to be true….it is. And it truly is. I can go out and have one of these machines put in my studio’s today and start making thousands and thousands of dollars. I don’t even have to put a dollar down on it. I just get to take in the money and send royalties to the company. But I wouldn’t do it. Not in a million years, because I would not think of ripping people off. NEVER!
Thanks Lesa. People also have to realize that doctors are just like everyone else – out to make a buck. Just because they wear a white lab coat it doesn’t mean they are honest.
If you are working out 6 times a week, you could lose the same amount and not have to use Zerona.
And 3.5 inches measured over 20 different spots is almost insignificant and could be attributed to measurment error – holding the tape measure a little tighter than before.
I spent $1200 and noticed NOTHING! I should have read this first. It is a “low level laser” which means you don’t need to be an MD to buy or operate it. It is like a laser pointer in strength or a supermarket bar code scanner, it is not dangerous and anyone can operate it.
I feel so foolish, but I wanted to believe so badly.
Suckered in L.A.
(no refund)
B.P.
Don’t feel too bad Bill, a lot people have been taken in by the Zerona scam.
Also, I think that Jay above, who gives a glowing testimonial must work for Zerona. When asked where and who did his “great” treatment he has remained silent, even though he had been replying multiple times to people how good the treatments were. If it were effective most of the time, they could easily refund the money to those “few” that it did not help. Zerona does not do that. I’m afraid that it’s just an enterprising SCAM. Buyer beware…
Spas get a Zerona laser for no cost but they have to pay Zerona a fee for every time the switch is thrown. They don’t refund any money because Zerona won’t refund the spa, so the spa would have to eat the entire cost.
As you have found, Zerona is a scam.
i just bought 10 sessions for $70 at ensogo…i am in the philippines. i thought it was real cheap so decided to try it. will let you all know the results after the 10 sessions!
Seems like a Zerona knock-off. If they could offer 10 sessions for $70, people in North America can’t help but wonder at how much they are being ripped-off with this Zerona scam.
Let us know how it went.
Thank you all for your input. I learned a long time ago to believe “if it’s too good to be true, then it probably isn’t” so I am not interested in zerona. However having struggled with weight all my life and a gastric bypass patient, who still struggles with diet and weight, I feel for you. My friend recently mentioned she bought a groupon for zerona, which is performed in a DENTAL office, and when I stated my skepticism, she got angry with me. When asked if she researched it she said no so I felt obligated to research for her. I am nervous to tell her my findings, but maybe because she hasn’t done it yet and purchased through groupon she may have a fighting chance for a refund, if she chooses!
Zerona in a dental office? Thats a new one. Hopefully your friend won’t be taken by this Zerona scam, but you can only do so much, then it is up to her to decide.
I was scammed with fake Zerona too. 6 treatments over 3 weeks, and zero measurement results. I maintained a good diet & exercise, and lost 1 pound in weight, and $600 in cash. That’s it.
This was at a clinic in Oakland, CA., run by college kids, with no doctor on site EVER.
The Zerona lazer can be run in a spa with someone who just walked in off the street – point at target area, push button and come back in 20 minutes. A doctor wouldn’t have helped.
Bob
I am curious as to how you have determined that the drs office does not pay for Zerona. They only pay for each time they turn it on. I am trying it right now, my Dr is charging 600 for six visits and gaurantees that I will see a 3.5 inch reduction in waist, thigh, hip area or he will do an additional 3 for free. Seems like that is quite different than all the other people here. I am wondering how you know the dr’s offices’ don’t have to pay for the machine. If that were the case, I would think every dr’s office in the us would have one.
I found out going to their web site and followed links for someone who wanted to get one. They claim they cost hundred of thousands of dollars so no spa could ever buy one outright.
Everyone doesn’t have one because most people have some ethics and a conscious. Some spa owners also realize that if you tick off a bunch of people just to make a quick buck they’ll soon be out of business.
Doctors are people running a business and they are out to make money like everyone else and a white lab coat doesn’t mean they are any more honest. You are lucky to get some sort of guarantee as almost everyone else gets nothing.
Here is the funny thing Bob. Is this really a guarantee is he getting?
Give me $600.00 and I will give you 6 treatments with a laser pen (right…one that is attached to a big machine to make it look all fancy and stuff). Then he says, “if it doesn’t work, I will give you 3 more treatments. What happens when nothing happens after 9 treatments? And the fact is, they always blame it on the patient telling them that they didn’t drink enough water, walk enough, etc. We know for a fact that just increasing water consumption can cause you to lose weight. In fact a water company a few years ago made the claim that if you drink 2 of their bottles of water every single day of the week, they would GUARANTEE that you will lose at least one pound per week. It had nothing to do with “their” water. It is ANY water. It makes you fuller, it stops cravings and it flushes the system.
How right you are!
I find all of this very interesting. I am considering becoming a partner in an office that offers nothing but this procedure, as a general manager and marketing specialist. I have been researching this opportunity ad nauseum. I know this: The Zerona company would not talk with me about purchasing a unit on my own as a business opportunity because I am not a doctor. One partner in the office is the investor, who fronted the money to purchase the laser machine, which cost over $80K, and he makes lease payments of over $2200 dollars a month for the unit. The doctor in the office is the partner who had to sign for the device / lease, since the investor and I didn’t have the credentials to purchase. Zerona treatments are to be overseen by a doctor. I guess, technically, dentists are “doctors” of dentistry, but that one baffles me. The reason the investor decided to seek out the unit for purchase is because he did 18 treatments at another location and it changed his life. I don’t know where any of you are getting your information about free lasers, paying the company per use, non-licensed people’s ability to purchase, etc, but I’m living this right now and your information is just not accurate. At least not as of July 2012. For the record, the Zerona literature clearly states that this treatment is FDA approved for full body contouring, not severe weight loss. The 6-9 sessions’ cited results are for those who have that last bit of flab that just won’t come off of those difficult areas. If you’re seriously overweight and think 6-9 treatments will overhaul your body, you’re dreaming. I have, however, seen overweight people seriously transform their bodies, to the tune of 27 total inches lost, but it took them about 30 sessions. Mind you, these people were given unlimited sessions because they were family members or agreeing to be walking billboards for the system. These people, whom I’ve met personally, had been dieting, exercising, etc. forever. The only difference in their attempt to lose the inches this time was the addition of the Zerona and 8-10 glasses of water a day. If anyone else seriously overweight did 30+ sessions, it would most likely work for them too. I just don’t believe you hear much of these testimonies because most people wouldn’t be able / willing to pony up the $6k for the large number of treatments. Finally, what’s up with the expectation of a guarantee? When I purchase a new food, supplement, car, etc., I don’t get to return it because it didn’t meet my expectation. Purchase something on the internet and most often there is a no return policy, or at best, an exchange policy. A bariatric clinic doesn’t give you a guarantee. Most weight loss clinics don’t because there is too much that can go on outside of their control, outside of the clinic. I am a dietitian by degree and worked in one of those clinics years ago and saw my share of non-compliance. A cancer doctor doesn’t guarantee a cure and I don’t get my money back from my pool membership if I don’t use the pool enough over the summer. Consumers need to research, ask the right questions, make an informed decision and take responsibility for their decisions.
These lasers are in many spas – not a doctor to be found anywhere. I’ve seen ads looking to hire someone to run these machines – no experience needed. What’s to know? Point light, press buttom, come back when the buzzer goes off in 20 minutes.
Spas offer guarantees all the time. Problem is, they don’t honor them because “It’s your fault.” Don’t waste your money on Zerona.
If you bought a car and there was a problem you wouldn’t return it? You’re know as a roll-over.
If you want to be in the Zerona business go ahead, if you don’t mind taking peoples money and providing a dubious service.
There are literally HUNDREDS of spas and other places that have these, as of JULY 2012, that do NOT have a doctor on site. So I do NOT know what you are talking about.
Bunk!
It is interesting the only people who have backed this up are the ones that work in this field.
Interesting indeed.
Lesa could it be that maybe these inside people are actually doing the treatments properly and yielding results. Reading these comments about guarantees and such is ludicrous. There are no guarantee’s in medicine or med spa treatments and I tell my clients anyone that guarantees results you need to run from. Lets just use our heads here people.
Thanks for your perform. Write-up aided me a good deal
If you decided not to have Zerona done then that’s great.
It worked wonderfully for me!! I lost 25 inches and 7 pounds after 7 weeks of treatment. I didn’t exercise much but I stopped having second servings of food and I limit myself to only 2 desserts a day. It was completely worth the money!
You can get those result from cutting 500 calories a day from your diet.
Oh, by the way. I don’t work for Zerona as I see some people may infer! I am a middle-aged mom and school teacher who has never found enough time to exercise! I turned 50 a few years ago and recently found that my belly fat was getting out of control. So I approached Zerona for help. I found the “real” Zerona. I do understand, however, that the onus is on ME to keep the inches off! I’m motivated to try and make time to exercise but I know it won’t be more than a 20 min. walk every other day!
The funny thing is, you changed your eating habits. Right there that is going to change what happens to your body. Not the “real zerona” as you call it…which I don’t know what that means. I guess that would be like saying, “use the real laser pen on your thighs when you stop eating second servings”, and see if there is a change in what happens to your body. Then when there is, tell everyone that it was the laser pen that did it instead of giving credit to those second servings, which is going to add up to at least 500 calories a meal, 3500 calories a week at only one extra serving a day, and VOILA, SEVEN whole pounds in SEVEN weeks. Amazing how that works isn’t it?
But if spending a thousand dollars makes a person feel good, that is that persons prerogative.
I personally would rather point my laser pen at the learning board it was intended for.
Cheers!
I have had my 4 treatments out of the 6. I have not noticed any result whatsoever. I even tried on some jeans today that were actually tighter than looser like they should be if this Zerona scam worked. It is a scam. Dr. Oz promoted it on his website so I figured it had to be reputable. Wow, was I wrong. Anyway, I am so upset for thinking this would actually work. I did everything they told me to do as well. I cut out caffeine, alcohol and I exercise. Lets get this SCAM exposed to the public so no more people will ad to the wallet of Zerona crooks.
Dr. Oz promotes tabloid medicine. Every day he has another weight loss miracle. If even half of what he says worked America would be the thinest nation in the world rather than the fattest.
You obviously work there!
Oh, and as an afterthought, I really don’t think this should be used as an advertisement, spamming outlet for the rip off zerona laser bunko! Seriously.
What a bunch of bunk.
The only thing that shrinks fat cells is stop eating so much and exercise. THERE IS NO MAGIC BULLET.
DID everyone hear that?
THERE IS NOT A MAGIC BULLET.
If you want to be silly and pull money out of your wallet and pay it to someone that says your fat cells are going to shrink, at least take half of that money your going to pull out and invest it in real estate or your child’s education. Because you’re being scammed.
There are literally HUNDREDS of these places that do not have a doctor on site and were not purchased by a doctor….so I am not sure where your information was gleaned from. This was post JULY 2012 incidentally. Total bunk. It is quite interesting only people that work for these outfits have anything good to say about the zerona scammer outfit. It is simply a laser pen installed in a large plastic machine made too look like something fancy. It isn’t anything fancy at all. It is nothing. Anyone can get something passed through the FDA, as long as it is NOT a danger to the body. It is THAT simple. It does not have to be GOOD for the body. It does NOT have to actually do something to the body. It just does not have to cause a certain harm to the body, and that is what the FDA claim for the zerona is. That is does not harm. IT IS A SCAM, and there are more doctors that will tell you it is a scam, then ones who will tell you it is NOT!!!! That says a LOT!!!!
Thanks for your input. The FDA has also approved drugs that kill and injure hundreds of thousands of people every year.
Yes they do. You are most certainly correct about that. So FDA doesn’t mean a heck of a lot!!!
Hey everyone,
I just made an appointment for a free consultation for Zerona. I’m so disappointed to see so many bad reviews. I am 40 yrs old, work out 4-5 times a week, and follow a very healthy diet. I can not lose weight period… and I just can’t bare to starve myself or eat lettuce all day. I had heard great things about Zeltiq – and was hoping Zerona was along the same lines. I have major localized fat that will only come off with Liposuction unfortunately… I’m thinking that I’ll cancel the consultation in light of all these bad reviews… however, the girl on the phone did say that you do need several treatments (over 9) to see results – that it’s a jumpstart to weight loss, not a miracle solution. I’ve not spoken to them about refunds and such – I will look on their website a bit more. Oh… and yes, because it’s not invasive – there are no doctors onsite…. ughh!
I have had a total of 12 Zerona Treatments and I have not seen any reduction whatsoever. The only reason why I had 12 is because I sent an email to the spa I went to complaining after the 6 treatments that there were no results and I strongly feel that Zerona is a scam. The spa wanted to appease me so they gave me 6 more treatments for free. I had my 12th treatment last Saturday, June 30th. It is a joke and scam. I called my local new station “Problem Solvers” to expose this scam. Please do not waste a single dime of your money and your time.
Way to go speaking out. Let everyone know what a scam Zerona can be.
good for you!!!
Hopefully you can move forward and drink lots of water and learn new things to change your diet and exercise plan.
You’ve learned what doesn’t work.
They’ll keep selling you “treatments” as long as they can, either until you realize it’s a waste of money or your credit card is maxed out.
I think you should re-evaluate your diet and exercise routines. Maybe you’re not breaking a big enough sweat exercising and/or you’re consuming “hidden” calories – that glass of wine, those 100 calories snack packs (who hasn’t eaten 2 or 3 at a time) or “seconds”. You can eat healthy, but too much healthy is just as bad.
Becareful of those fibre bars. When you think fibre, think cardboard. How do they make cardboad taste good? Pound it full of sugar!. I used to think I was doing myself good until I realized that I could just as well been eating a chocolate bar with nuts as a fibre bar.
I have also just read a new, ground-breaking study that has determined that as we age our metabolism slows down and it’s harder for us to lose weight.
I found this amazing! How someone can get a government grant to discover the blatantly obvious.
DON’T DO IT. IT IS A SCAM.
Use the money you will save for a one on one consultation with a work out specialist at an inexpensive gym that is 9 bucks a month!
wow it takes 9 sessions and then you will see result. Does she show you some befor and after great results. What she is saying really is after 9 payments that is all the money we can take before you become wise to having seeing no result and you will stop paying us. Make sure you get in writting that she is guaranteeing results after 9 treatments and as a result you want your money back. And no doctor no accountability from the board of surgery. Also make sure they don’t push on you diet pills to aid in weight loss because then it is the pills working and as we know the weight comes back even worse. Lipo laser is better because it melts it and then it sucks it out. They have better ones that you don’t even have to be asleep. Medical staff are around you. Also if you don’t want to spend alot of money you can go to one of these teaching hospitals like in newyork there is harlem hospital and they do plastic surgery with a professional doctor that oversees everything, but they have training doctors it is so much affordable. And many people have gotten great results. They are always booked some people have to wait months to get in, but again it is worth it. The doctor Norman Thomas has been renowned surgeon he treats for free patience in africa and other countries for nothing as well. At least there is accountability also you can ask them do they do the laser surgery lipo. I know that it is better to suck out the excess fat rather than just melting it and hoping that it would come out of your intestines.
I am on the fence about Zerona, having just found out about it. However, I wanted to tell everyone that sometimes Fat isn’t Fat…it’s Lymphedema! Lymphatic fluid cannot be removed by diet, you need to go to a special Lymphatic Drainage Clinic to have it treated and then there is compression too.
Doctor’s can’t seem to recognition the condition and don’t seem to feel like they are responsible to give clinic referrals.
You can have this in an isolated area or all over, but it affects women’s legs mostly. If you see an obese woman with thick tree trunk legs…she probably has lymphedema and doesn’t know she can be treated.
Check out the Wikipedia page…
It is not unusual for people with this condition to gain Fat too, as they are not able to be active as they were… I wish I had been treated in High School (I was 130lbs then)…I’m 55 now and have about 120lbs of fluid to lose and then I will be more active and try to lose the fat that is left if I can. This condition has ruined my life, I never dated or married because of it.
At 4’9, I am supposed to weigh 90lbs. Also consider that Lypmhatic fluid is heavier than fat and so you can’t even know what your true “FAT” weight really is…
I have been horribly abused by society from name-calling to lost jobs… And people still say “why don’t you go on a diet”! How much food do they think I can afford on my Disability income? I might have not had to go on disability at all, if I had been treated years ago… Incompetence destroyed my life.
Work on the Lymphatic fluid issue and forget Zerona.
You won’t get any guarentee or your money back if Zerona doesn’t work.
Thanks, I am waiting for the ultrasonic fat cavitation technology in a couple of years, also the fat freezing with suction is interesting. I am just warning people that have Lymphatic fluid under their skin and they think it’s fat and it won’t go away!
This is such an unrecognized condition that even doctors can see you for years and don’t get a clue.

ST. JUDE RESEARCH
Leaky lymphatic vessels are the leading cause of the adult onset obesity observed in a laboratory model developed by investigators at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The findings suggest that the abnormal leakage of lymph fluid from the ruptured lymphatic vessels stimulates the accumulation of fat, particularly in regions of the body rich in lymphatics, the researchers said. The lymphatic vasculature (system of capillaries and vessels) that drains lymph is essential for the immune response in inflammation, and is the main route for the spreading of metastatic tumors to the lymph nodes.
The St. Jude investigators showed that removal of one of the two copies of the gene Prox1 disrupts normal development of the lymphatic vasculature, leading to leakage of lymph from ruptured lymphatic vessels, and subsequent obesity. Specifically, the researchers found that adipocytes (fat cells) near leaking lymphatic vessels under the skin and in the abdomen were significantly larger than normal, and therefore able to store more lipids (e.g., fatty acids and triglycerides, used as an energy source).
“This is the first such evidence in an in vivo model showing that defects in the integrity of the lymphatic vasculature could lead to adult obesity,” said Guillermo Oliver, Ph.D., an associate member of the Genetics and Tumor Cell Biology Department at St. Jude. “And therefore, this is the first model available for studying obesity linked to faulty lymphatic vessels. It will be an important tool for studying this novel form of adult-onset obesity, as well as diseases of lymphatic vessels, and eventually, extending those findings to humans.” Oliver is senior author of a report on this work that appears in the September 18 online issue of Nature Genetics.
The laboratory model (Prox1+/- ) lacked one of two copies of the Prox1 gene, which is required for proper development of the lymphatic system. Previously, Oliver’s laboratory reported that Prox1 activity is necessary for the normal development of cells making up the lymphatic vasculature; and that it is the subsequent budding and sprouting of those cells that give rise to the lymphatic system (Cell [98]:769-778; 1999).
Most Prox1+/- heterozygous (i.e., having only one copy of the gene) models die quickly in the postnatal period as a consequence of extensive lymphatic leakage that accumulates in the abdomen and thorax (chest). “However, those with a milder disruption of their lymphatic vasculature were able to survive and become obese with age,” Oliver said.
“Interestingly, those that survived did not develop diabetes, as commonly seen in different types of obesity,” he added. “This told us that the type of obesity we were seeing in this laboratory model was different from forms of obesity that are commonly associated with diabetes.” The researchers also demonstrated that lymph removed from the abdominal cavity of the Prox1+/- models and added to cultured cells can promote adipocyte differentiation, most likely due to certain factors present in the collected lymph.
“Our findings might encourage physicians to consider that at least some of their obese patients might be suffering from a problem that can’t be solved by eating less and exercising more,” Oliver said. Just as many vascular disorders arise because of blood vessel defects, other defects of the closely related lymphatic vessels in addition to edema could also occur in humans, he added.
Thanks for the info, Celeste.
I appreciate your eye opening comments. I am a family physician in So. CA., and I treat many over weight patients with the help of a nutritional coach. Recently I was invited for a “FREE dinner” to get a pitch from the Zerona reps. I want to help my patients loose unwanted weight, but after reading your postings I will keep away from this company. For all you nice people who are over weight, remember that long term weight loss comes with consistent diet and regular aerobic exercise. There will always be people who try to take advantage of your situation to make a buck.
Good Luck to all, and learn to enjoy a healthy life style.
It is to know there really are many docs out there who are NOT looking to make a buck off of patients who need to get healthy and are down on their luck and just about ready to do anything to do it.
Thanks for that Dr. Alem…You are a stand up Dr.!
Lesa
Thanks for your comment. It’s a good idea to skip offering Zerona as it would cause you a ton a grief from ticked off patients.
You’re right on the ball with the diet and exercise advice. Thanks again.
I used 6 Zerona treatments and lost a total of 7 inches across my body. If I could go back in time, would I get it, probably not… However, if you do what they suggest which is eat well and drink a lot of water, you will lose weight regardless so I am not certain that Zerona necessarily contributed. I only had the treatments on my stomach and that was the area that did decrease the most (and I actually cheated and did not eat as healthy as I could). The product may not completely work, but you also cannot just depend on it to lose weight
Thanks for your input. All the other stuff Zerona has you do is more likely to be responsible for any weight loss.
I am a board certified plastic surgeon. There are unfortunately many scams in this field, and doctors are just like any other professional; some are predators. Some are trustworthy. As insurance and politicians carve more deeply into legitimate healthcare reimbursement, these scams become unfortunately more and more common. There is a new one every year or two. Zerona machines were $100,000 to $200,000 a few years ago. Now you can buy one for $20,000 or less. The word is out. Don’t believe the hype.

Here’s some solid free advice from an honest doctor. Don’t believe all that you see on Dr. Oz, the Doctor’s, and others. These are entertainment and advertising outlets. Doctors have been selling snake oil for as long as medicine exists. Some things work, some don’t. Some doctors abuse the profession. Some do not. Do your research. If you are considering some treatment, try to stick with something tried and true. Do your best to seek a direct referral from a friend, family member, or other. Traditional liposuction has been around since the 1980′s for a good reason. It works (when done correctly).
Thank you for your opinion. It’s nice to get some honest advice from an honest person in the industry.
What’s next, an honest lawyer? Dare to dream.
I got a comment back from the developers of this scam, Erchonia but they are still standing behind this joke. I did contact “Groupon” about getting my money back and they refunded me my full amount. I insisted to them to not promote Zerona Laser treatments in the future. Please don’t waste your time and money.
Thanks for your comment. It’s great that you got your money back and better still if Groupon stops selling Zerona.
Thank you Bob for having this blog. I came very close to purchasing 6 treatments for $800 from LivingSocial website. I’m going to try the water thing and eating less. Right now I do weights 4 times a week and actually tap dance 2 times a week. I am 55. I don’t have a lot to lose but could really use a belly fat trimmer. Anyway, thank you soo much! And I really appreciate what Jason had to say, so thank you to him also!
Thank you very much for the nice comment, I think you’re the first.
Glad you saved your money and didn’t waste it on any Zerona “treatments”.
I am taking the zerona treatment . I am on my 4th one they told me I already lost 3inches but jeans and body still fit and look the same? This place just opened up! They are giving treatments 50%off so regular 2400 . I got 6 treatments for 1000 and 3 free I’ve only paid half… I’m not paying anymore if I don’t see results
They also usually measure you in a dozen different places – with a tape measure. A 3 inch loss is 1/4 inch over the areas and can easily be from how tight the tape measure is.
I am so happy I have read all of your comments. I was really looking forward to Zerona but not after hearing about all of your displeasure. I am cancelling the appointments I made tomorrow. Thank you for all of your cautions!
Good for you!
I am glad to see this reviews because I had too a bad experience with Zerona I paid a lot of many I didnt get any result I wanted to stop in the middle of the treatment then their doctor convinced me that it is going to work if I followed a certain diet which at the begining their advertisement doesn’t mention any dietiing if I want to diet why I have to pay a lot of money. The machine that they advertise, and Dr. Oz show do not talk about dieting, which I felt it was a trap to get you there. Making the story short, their opinion at the end of aroun 30 sessions, was that I didnt follow the diet that is why I didnt get result, where at the free consultation first they tell you if it will not work then they will pay the fees of liposuction surgery if Zerona doesn’t work. At the end I didn’t get any penny back of the big amount of money that I paid and I got into a fight with my husband for spending this money for nothing.
This is what I liked to share with you so we can make the people be aware of what is going on, and everything is not true.
I would complain to the Better Business Bureau. That is what I did. Also, I think people need to start a Class Action Lawsuit. Zerona should also be listed on the website “Quackwatch.com. Don’t give up! Get your money back.
I agree. I still see Groupon and others still advertising this product. I had 3 zerona treatments, lost 1/2 inch. I had already been exercising and dieting, so I doubt that Zerona was the reason I lost 1/2 inch. They told me I had lost 5 1/2 If this really worked that North America would be skinny by now and there would be no need for Zerona anyway. I just hope this people who bought this read reviews before they go ahead with this and they should try and get their money back
I had purchased a Groupon for the Zerona Treatments. I did contact Groupon to not promote Zerona since it is a scam but I guess they don’t care. I also wanted my money back from Groupon. They didn’t give me cash but credited my account to the full amount so I basically got a refund but only to be used for Groupons.
At least you got something back from them. Way to go!
I had a consultation today for Zerona treatments. I thought I would be told that I should get in better shape before having the treatments as I want to lose about 40lbs and I have not exercised regularly for over a year. Instead, they want me to have 12 sessions for my core, along with some additonal toning sessions (at an extra cost) then 16 more sessions for my hips and thighs, also with the additional toning sessions. I am to take some pills that will increase my metabolism, also to drink 80 oz of water, exercise at least 30 minutes a day, wear spanx (compression dressings) and dish out over $6k. Thank you so much Bob for this site and thank you to all the contributers. You have saved me a great deal of money and frustration. I will drink more water, exercise more and eat healthier.
I am so glad you decided to not do that. For that kind of money you would be better off getting Liposuction which works. I just hope people have sense enough to check up on procedures before spending the money. I did check into Zerona and what I read sounded as if it may work but that was just good marketing and false advertising.
Great to hear it! It’s the other stuff Zerona gets you to do that actually loses the weight.
NO treatments work 100% for everyone. This is just a known fact everyone should already know so to be un aware of this just shows a lack of intelligence. No medication, treatment, surgery has 100% effectiveness, ever. How is it a scam if it works for the majority of people?? The 5% it doesn’t work for are 90% of the people who take to the Internet to whine and complain.
Agreed! TY!
I am a licensed aesthetician of 13 years my office is staffed with P.A.’s and we have a board certified plastic surgeon as our supervisor. We sell Zerona and are very successful at delivering the results we promise. Here is the factor that makes the difference: setting up realistic expectations! After reading many of these comments many people were over promised and over sold! I’m sorry for that! Typically Zerona will deliver 2-4 inches of reduction cumulatively. So perhaps waist 2 and thighs 2, not 4 in just the waist! Now we have seen this but not the norm. Secondly my company uses our Vela treatment immediately after Zerona to help the leaked fat to be discreted through the lymphatic system. This is the second factor that is giving us amazing results. Thirdly results do vary, your at home participation will way in heavy on your results! Zerona as a company can not ensure that clients are doing the work at home or that even the practitioner is placing the diodes correctly! It is a moot point to state that they some how should guarantee anything. I have worked in the aesthetic field and with lasers and no one should guarantee anything! We are all individuals that respond differently. I will however would love to chat with anyone that didn’t have good results and try to help you figure out why, no charge. I’m very proud of my treatments and company and I hate when things are sold and performed wrong in my industry and get a bad wrap! Please feel free to email me allylov33@gmail.com.
I was compliant with all instructions given to me while undergoing my zerona treatments and did not have any result. No guarantee = scam. Let’s begin a class action lawsuit!
Anna what were the instructions given to you and how was the service administered?
This zerona treatment is most surely one of the biggest scams on the market today. They are playing on the desperate needs of others, wow this procedure does not work they’re nothing more than salesmen! Great marketing, these day time shows especially these Doctors lack integrate for allowing these people to market this product by way of thier shows.
Anthony,
How many Zerona have you preformed and what were your results because my office does about 5 a day and we have had patients loose over 10 inches in total and up to 4 1/2 in one area.
Ally
i dont think its a scam at all, Im getting ready for my first session tuesday but about five people at my job have done it and Ive seen good results. But if you are paying thousands of dollars then yeah I would say its a ripoff lol, there are places you could get real laser lipo for that, smh. Here in Texas there are plenty of places that do it for $800 and under for six sessions, and my doctor even cut me a 9 session deal for 800. My coworkers all followed the regimen, and we all workout four times a week and have a good diet. Im hoping I will see a few inches gone like them over the course of 3 weeks, but for us this is more of a toning procedure not a dramatic weight loss goal, to each their own but I definately wouldnt have paid over 1 k, my coworkers do zerona around this time before summer every year in a different area of their bodies.
Well…go ahead and lose a couple of inches for 800 dollars if that is what you want, however, remember, that couple of inches is really just a couple of inches total, which means, they measure you in about 12 places, and add it all together, which means, there isn’t one single place you lose more than 1/2 inch, and that would be if you lost SIX INCHES. And we all know they squeeze the measure tighter the second time around.
Fact of the matter is, if you followed what they told you to do, and you did not go to one single appointment with the laser light, which does not have any more strength than a laser pointer you can purchase at your local staples store, you would lose the same exact amount. It is the diet, and the placebo effect of you laying down your hard earned money, not the laser pointer.
It makes me sad when people get taken, but if your really that hard headed you want to waste your money like that, there isn’t anything anyone can say to change it, so I can’t feel bad for you.
Cheers and blessings!
So Lesa how many treatments have you preformed or done? It’s so funny to me that people carry on about things they have no clue about.
FYI I have clients that have loss 4 in chances in 3 weeks in their abs and no one is pulling the tape tight. Lol
I had 12 treatments done and followed the regimen exactly. I didn’t notice anything and had someone measure me both times and there wasn’t any difference. I am sure eventually Verona will be sued or shut down.
Well, said. It is a placebo effect. Since I had a total of 12 treatments and didn’t notice jacksh7%$2t. At least people have been warned. I wonder if there is anything out there beside liposuction that works.
I can see why this business is so attractive.9,000.00.
You can purchase a machine for 20-30K
Overhead is minimal, put ads on social sites, and in coupon books, and within probably 120 treatments you’ve got the thing paid off.
Now I’m certainly NOT trying to sell anyone on this! Because anyone who goes out and buys one of these and starts using it on women and men who want to lose a lot of weight, or even a little weight, have NO MORALS whatsoever, and luckily, as we can see, the cost of the machines have gone WAY DOWN from 200-300K all the way down to 20K….well, that tells us we know the value of them is pretty useless, and they are trying to unload them before they go out of business, which they most certainly will before long, because as we all know it is one of the biggest scams going!
Lol. Finished on top of that soapbox yet?
Again I’ll ask how many treatments have you preformed and seen results from?
I am not ignorant enough to spend 1-3 grand on something that is equal to a laser pen that I can purchase at an office supply store and aim it at the minimal amount of fat I have on my body (BMI of 22, which is normal range). If I did want to spend that sort of money to rid myself of fat I would do it as the girl said below and go to a qualified doctor and have it removed by liposuction, which really works. However, I don’t have enough fat to do so, and I would rather eat healthy, and do exercise.

I know you enjoy saying laser light pen and trying to compare lipo to Zerona and other rediculous things, but you are not making sense.
First of all I will not even entertain the silly pen comment. Second, lipo and zerona is like trying to compare apples and oranges. They are 2 very different procedures. I’ve worked with plastic surgeons for years and have seen the amazing results of lipo of many patients. I have also seen the horrors that it can possibly bring. I am currently treating people with zerona to even out bad lipo jobs.
Here’s the thing: one kills and removes fat cells, the other collapses and deflates them. One if weight is put back on may result in uneven fat distribution or weight gained in areas never a prior problem. The other you will only go back to exactly the way you started.
Not everyone is a candidate for lipo or even for zerona. Not every practitioner is doing either procedure properly therefore results will vary.
I will tell you this: I work 50 hours a week in a clinic where we are preforming zerona right and our clients are loving their results. Anyone that claims anything different about zerona without actually seeing hundreds of patients needs to not spout out about things they don’t know about. I do not jump on blogs about cooking, carpentry, or something else I don’t have direct experience in. For all the people that have had bad experiences I’m very sorry for your money and time lost. I will say it again, this is a very technique driven service and if it isn’t performed properly the client won’t get results. One thing is for sure zerona does work and can be a great service to the right candidate.

Just dont understand why would someone pay $3000 for a
Procedure and not just go for lipo. Lipo is not as dangererous as people think.
I did all my test in Tampa and once I knew everything was ok I went to a doctor with very good reference and did my lipo. I have a beautiful body…it took me 4hrs to get that body.
Right on Vicky! You would have spent just as much on the Zerona, and it would have done you not a bit of good.
Now just keep up with the drinking water, and exercise, so you can keep that beautiful body beautiful!
A lot of people are being taken by this scam. Thanks for sharing.
Tell everyone you come across who is even thinking about this useless procedure.
Sorry to hear it. Thanks for the warning!
Great points. They ask you to walk 40 minutes a day and fill up on tons of water, then they measure you in a dozen differernt places and claim you lost 3 inches. Would anyone notice 1/4 inch off their waist? If people didn’t see noticable results after the first 3 treatments you should get your money back and have the remaining treatments cancelled.
It’s just a modern take on a snake oil saleman.
Angela,
Really there are so many ways to lose. As long as you are moving at LEAST 1/2 hour a day 3-5 days a week, and you’re eating good foods (this means the right amount and kinds of fats, and proteins, not too much carbs, but don’t cut them out, it is totally unreasonable to do that), you will do well.
Find an exercise regime that works for you. If you like to dance, put on some music and dance. If you like to jog, do that.
For me, I like something that I can do year round, so I joined a gym that is near my house and I use the elliptical machine at least 3 days a week for an hour or so. I use some of the machines too to help to build a bit of muscle (because muscle burns calories and fat).
Just move and eat well. It will work. Getting started is the hardest part, once you’re started, you’re already halfway there.
GOOD LUCK!
Great tips, thanks.
Glad you saved yourself ton of money.
Becky congrats to you, but how many treatments did you do? The lbs lost and all those inches can’t be from just Zerona?
