Archive for the ‘1.0 About Your Sleep’ Category
Categories of Sleep Disorders
Most sleep problems fall into one of the following categories. The first is difficulty falling asleep. If you don’t fall asleep within 20 minutes and it takes you more than 30 minutes, this is where your problem is. The second category is staying asleep. Some people is this group wake up several times each night or wake up too early, say after only 5 or 6 hours and they can’t get back to sleep. People in the first category have a poor quality of sleep with too much light sleep.
My sleep problems often bounced between both categories. Sometimes I couldn’t fall asleep until 2 or 3 in the morning. My alarm clock going off at 6am was sucking around for a beating. There were other times I’d fall asleep quickly but be wide awake and raring to go at 3am. I’d be up paying bills, washing dishes or doing a few loads of laundry being so productive when the other losers would be still sleeping. By 7:30am when I was getting ready to go to work I would be ready to go back to bed, but I would guzzle a pot of coffee, snort some grounds and use the rest for a coffee enema just to stay awake.
If you find yourself consistently in one category, your behaviour my just be a bad habit that you’ve had for years. It may take a while to break the habit, but you can do it.
